Tattered Banners is awesome. As far as Amon Amarth songs go, I think Death by Fire is my force's battle song.

When I'm modeling though I mostly listen to Tyr.

Also, good luck with your Varangians! I also used them as the basis for my force. Make sure to have an homage to Harald Hardrada in there.

yeah like that song as well, i also think runes to my memory and cry of the black birds are great as well

never listened to Tyr before, might have to check them out sometime

as for Harald i think using the rules for Arjac would fit him well, i see him walking around the field of battle with his warhammer and shield

I mostly listen to either Blind Guardian or Heidevolk.

Heidevolk is an awesome viking/folk dutch metal band lol.Love the one song that I think fits the wolves.I dont really have a song that could be an anthem for the wolves.

Het bier zal weer vloeien(beer shal flow again, something like that)

Blind guardian

I like Amon Amarth, but they are not one of my favorites.

Blind Guardian is a great band that continues to be great.

I like to listen to Rhapsody (of Fire) a lot while painting. Plus, the band is the origin for my screen name.

Sonata Arctica's first album is fantastic, it's a shame there later albums when not as strong as it is.

But my all time favorite music to paint to, get myself pumped up for the upcoming battle is Nocturnal Rites second album "Tales of Mystery and Imagination".

I'm on Maverik's side, since I too have the feeling, my wolves deserve a true hymn.

I keep wondering just how you can listen to such loud ( as I feel this music should be played somewhat loud) stuff, while painting. I could not stop myself from headbanging ^_^ .

I always imagine that hymn "Behold the triumph of terra" to be a good mix of excerpts of the following OST's:

13th Warrior, King Arthur, Kindom of heaven, Rambo, 300, Terminator and We were soldiers once...and young-and Carmina Burana by Carl Orff

I mostly listen to a mix of the above + Diamond Eyes from Shine Down (from The Expendables), The Boss, ACDC with a piece of old rock or hiphop(yeah I'm outing myself here ;) ) in between.

its called having a wife and alot of ablums on my ipod lol

i do think tattard banners by amon amrath is the perfect song for the wolves, i mean after all one of the lines is "and the fenris wolf returns"

Definitely worth listening to. They carry a very oldworld feel in their music which I've come to love. Ragnarok and Eric the Red are both great albums.

Plus, some of their songs are in Faroese and just sound badass.

*pops in ear fones, turns ipod up to max and goes of looking for ale as he sings about glory and the Allfather*

Because my 3rd Company have learned well from their Varangian Brothers!

I started playing with Ultras because I wanted to play Codex and I like the color scheme (also: Calgar.). I've always wanted to play Wolves too since I'm a big Viking enthusiast. Last month a buddy of mine sold off a couple of his forces that were side projects, and I snagged about 1500 points worth of Wolves for $90. So fluffwise I decided my Wolves have been serving alongside the 3rd Company for quite some time.

And Viking metal is the only metal.

Thank the Allfather! Other people who listen to metal!

Me and my best friend are the only 2 in my school who listen to heavy metal, nice to see others do as well.

Amon Amarth has the viking metal down to an artform. However, I saw many people were commenting upon the love of the Varangian Concept. While Amon Amarth does do it very well, they only have one song for it. A band called "Turisas" has an entire album based upon this concept. Very interesting and barbaric too, fits the Wolves nicely.

Also if any of you have listened to The Sword, they are amazing and remind me of viking lore, especially the album Age of Winters.

Turisas pops up on my Last.fm Tyr station every now and then, sounds like I need to give them a more serious listen.

Anyone said Amon Amarth?

^^,

On a more serious note: Of course anything by Amon Amarth will do jst fine, sadly due to their success another excellent Swedish Death Metal band with paganism and Norse lyrics called Unleashed have been kinda pushed away.

Otherwise we always have Primordial, Týr, Bathory, Finntroll, Nifelheim, Naglfar, etc.
