Skarvald the Troll-faced
Hey there! In a few months me and a few friend are going to do a big Loyalist vs. Traitor Apocalypse Game in which I will be fielding my Space Wolves! Woot! Here's the thing: I have 3 Wolf Lords on Thunderwolves and uuum... 20 Thunderwolf Cavalry. I want to make an Apocalypse Formation for them and still have no decided whether I want to run all of them in one big, BIG Unit (3 Lords on Thunderwolves with 6 Fenrisian Wolves and 20 Thunderwolves) or split them somehow. But probably a BIG unit just for the sheer awesomeness of it. Some of the things I was thinking of were a Move through Cover bonus, maybe a Furious Charge the first time they charge? I don't know, I guess. Maybe you guys could help me decide and I promise to post pictures when the game happens! Max_Dammit
If you use it as one unit than it will be to big, it wont fit and anything it hits gets over killed. Id like the idea of a formation with a just a tad meaner wolflord on mount, extra T extra wound extra S higher I, must be on the front line of the charge. if you take 3 full units each let by a wolflord, or maybe even a wolfpriest on a mount a bit like the BA priest only on a wolf  Just throwing in some ideas  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212951-thunderwolf-apocalypse-formation/#findComment-2533517 Share on other sites
Skarvald the Troll-faced
Yeah I was also thinking of having the main Thunderwolf Lord's "retinue" of Thunderwolf Cavalry being followed by the rest of the units and Lords. You know, the rule that makes you deploy the rest of the units within a certain distance of the main unit. But what should I give them? Thunderhawk3015
To be honest you don't need to make a formation for it. If you do, give them outflank/furious charge and call it a day, don't need much more to make it nastier, maybe have Rules for a Rune Priest/Wolf Priest in there. Wysten
Aye, to be honest, I don't believe Space Wolves would even have enough Thunder Wolf to make them any more bigger then they already are. We already know that only Wolf Guard and Lords have the Bravdo to ride them and not all wolf guard manage to do that. DeathWolf is the only one with a real speciality for them I could see several companys working together, but I still think they would be several different units under different commanders, then a formation. Though I could see Deathwolf running a seriously high number of them, 3 Iron Priests, 3 packs of 5 Thunderwolf and all that crazyness.
