Prot
Hey guys, I don't know how many of you frequent the painted section, but I finally finished some pics of my new Wolves paint recipe. They take me waaaay too long, but I did enjoy doing Arjac, although I admit I feel very stalled out. Anyway just in case you haven't seen them.... Prot's Barely Finished Wolves: take 2 Now to make a list that best uses Arjac at 1850....... Any good combo's with him I may not have heard of? Wolf Guard Dan
Nice. Job they look really nice. How did you weather your vehicles? I like Arjac with 10 Grey Hunters meltagunx2, PW, Wolf Totem +Maybe a IC. But they get targetted pretty easily in combat. My local GW has a lot of cover that counts as 4++ so I can footslog pretty well. I have a 2k list I use Arjac in but can see where I could save the points to get him at 1850pts. What I end up doing is adding him to my already existing 5man WGTDA with CML drop pod crew and join the CML to my Long Fangs. With Foehammer, I figure they are goood on ranged weapon while dropping close. The CML then gets to splitfire with my Long Fangs and Living Lightning casting Rune Priest. 7 missile shots and d6 str7 shots is pretty nice. As far as uses for Arjac, you've pretty much got all the typical ways to field him to choose from: 1. In a Wolf Guard Pack with or without a Wolf Lord, deploying via a Land Raider varient is probably best, but a Drop Pod could work, too, depending on whether you've got other Pods in your list. 2. As a Wolf Guard Leader for a Grey Hunter Pack, again deploying either in a Land Raider (geared as a dedicated assault force) or in a Drop Pod. 3. As a Wolf Guard Leader for a max Pack of Blood Claws, either footslogging, or deployed in a Land Raider Crusader. That's pretty much it for your options, right there. No real surprises. DeepDarkSecret
I was thinking about using Arjac and 5 other WG in terminator armor with combi meltas in a drop pod to drop in and say "Deal with me or die" While the rest of my army comes flying across the field asap. If they are all in Terminator Armour, then you can only put Arjac with 4 other Wolf Guard in a Drop Pod (transport capacity is 10 in PA, and TDA count as 2 ea.). For a similar cost you could have x1 / x2 WG in TDA with CML (depending on how many WG in your list) and 6 in PA with x3 combi meltas, and x3 with combi plasmas..... in a DP... Then have have x5 scouts with Melta gun melta bombs and a WG with a combi melta..... I was also thinking of (depending on you interp of OBEL) have a WGBL with SOH, PW/SS x2 Fen wolves (or whatever wargear you prefer), attached to the scouts, then detach him once behind the lines. Though if you win first turn you can have the scouts infiltrate, scout move, and then on first turn when they move they should be in Melta gun / Assault range, then have the WGBL come in from there using SOH..... This Gives you three nasty units behind their lines, which should cause havoc and help the scouts survive longer.... Also means your Long Fangs can bombard / provide support from across the board. they will have to show their soft rear armor to someone..... CainTheHunter
That's proper use of airbrush, isn't it? The only question is - the Razor looks pre-heresy (Codex Grey), while the hunters are a bit blue-ish. Is it the camera flash or it was intentional? Prot
Well actually it is the same recipe for the base colour, so yes, it is the camera doing that. And yes, they were based with an airbrush (can't stand streaks on vehicles. :) ) I have been using Arjac very differently, and to very good success, but it's a BEASTLY cost. I basically use him with Logan. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212968-finished-some-wolves/#findComment-2534304 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
Logan and Arjac are a nice combo, but I rarely run them together death star style. Really fluff wise they should be ran together if your into that. My current list is running Arjac in a pod with 8 GH, scouts with a WG using CM/PF and, influenced by Bitz Swiftclaw Biker Pack article, a WL on a SMB using TH/SS RA SoB in a pack with a WG on SMB using CM/PF 2 Swiftclaw Bikers 1 using a PF and an Attack Bike using a MM. The Scouts and Bikers are able to support the initial pod strike very quickly and cause a heck of a lot of destruction. If you try this have at least a second pod that is ranged oriented in the list to place on table first in case you go first and have nothing to strike at cause your opponent put everything in reserve.
