Laxnumba7
Hey guys! A friend and I have been discussing the Wolf Guard Pack Leader... He insists that he gets them for "Free"(He purchases 3 wolf guard, makes them lead 2 units of Blood Claws, and a Unit of Grey Hunters... They count as troops(not arguing this) and they no longer count as Elite's so he may take 3 more elites choices). Does this sound right to you? Just in case I wasn't clear enough. Sample Army List HQ1 HQ2 HQ3 Elite1 Elite2 Elite3 Wolf Guard Pack Leaders(3x guys) Grey Hunters(Pack Leader here) Grey Hunters(Pack Leader here) Grey Hunters(Pack Leader here) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212978-wolf-guard-pack-leader/ Share on other sites
Nacho Wolf
Nah, that doesnt sound right to me, as I understand it you pick them as elites, then before the battle you split them up, so they would have to go down as elites in the list Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/212978-wolf-guard-pack-leader/#findComment-2533853 Share on other sites

Thus, your friend can only take 2 more Elite choices, in addition to the Wolf Guard pack. Laxnumba7
Yea, that's what I thought. But he was starting to get angry, so I stopped before I had to throw him out of my shop. I was 100% sure that I was correct, I just wanted to speak to other Space Wolf players to make sure I wasn't wrong. Thanks Fella's! Aye, they are brought as elites and that does not change when drafted, but take on the properties of the squad that they are in. So if wolf guard is taken, their relationship is simlar to a HQ in Grey Hunters. HQ's don't suddenly lose them the right to score, rather he gains the ability to score while attached to that squad. Though I believe the wolf guard still scores if drafted, even if he's the only left. Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
Sad that people don't read the codex properly, then get visibly angry to the point of almost being kicked out, when they are shown to be wrong. wolfpack
1 they ARE elites...bought as elites and thus take an elite slot on the FOC 2 they are split into the packs they lead "at the beginning of each game" so while still counting as elites are deployed as troops along with their pack 3 Yer friend is wrong...you are right...he needs to find an army more suited to temperamental individuals...may I suggest Chaos? Laxnumba7
Yea... I played him in a game with my Dark Eldar today. He left the shop. He took the stuff out of the display case, and isn't coming back. So I don't think I have to worry about it anymore. Wolf Guard Dan
That person seems like an absolute imbecile. Such a clear subversion of the rules. And he handled it like an immature ice troll. Such a disgrace. Someone should take his space wolf miniatures away and give him something less manly. I think it is good that you stepped up to him. He needed to be put in his place. And let any SW players in the shop know they ought to smack some sense into that whelp. It is the Fenris way. Grrrr.. Anyways I think you handled it well.
