Now I need to paint them!!!

I've started assembling tactical marines and I will have a photo update on these tomorrow.

Are those little insignia on the one's chest and the other's leg FW brass?

yep

:tu:

Sweetness. I was just looking at them on the site thinking "Gee, I wish I had something to show the scale of those little fists" to know if they would be what I need in my upcoming Crimson Fists force. And, thanks to that pic I now know they are the exact size I require. Nice. :)

They are fiddly but worth the cursing!!!!

I actually got them for vehicles and to use for scout squad chapter symbols but they made for good embelishment on the sternies!

Aw, yea, I didn't even think of using them for scout shoulder pads, but that's awesome. I've already bought a ridiculous amount of the GW CF packs, so having actual 3D fists on the scouts will go well with everyone else having sculpted pads. Did you get the FW termie pads? That little brass on the guy's chest will be perfect for converting the insignia of Cortez's power fist as it's rendered in the C:SM.

I'm going to be using sculpted pads on everything. I got a load for cheap on fleebay. When I get round to making some termies I will no doubt use the forgeworld pads as they are kick ass

chapter symbol usually goes on left shoulder...

It's perfectly fluffy and legit to have the chapter symbol on the right pad if the left is a knobby MkVI pad. In these cases the squad markings will be relocated to the right knee or right shin. He's done nothing out of lore context.

What he said :D

I intended for this squad t be fully MKVI and so they have the chapter symbol is on the right shoulder.

Looking forward to paint progress.

Nice minis can't wait to see you hit them with some paint! :D

Thank you WOTF! I am hoping to get these undercoated in the next week or so. I have limited outdoor space so I may have to get a good friend of mine to prime them for me. Painting will be a slow process seeing as this will be the first squad I have painted in almost 8 years!!!! We will see how rusty I have gotten. Hopefully they wont look like the first minis I ever painted!!!! :D

  • 5 months later...

*Blows dust off*

Hey guys

I've been away in Brazil for almost 6 months! I got back last week and the army has had some work done to. I even have some painted minis!! (gasp!)

They are currently at a mates and I will have some photos up in the next few days

I'm building them to a 1000 pts list that I have just put up in the army list forum http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=236462

THANKS

I decided to take the sternguard a new route as I wasn't really feeling the uniformity of all mk6. I wanted them to be more heroic and unique so without further a do I present to you my new WIP sternguard :tu:

Group shot

Bare in mind they are still a work in progress. They still need some tweeking and embelishing (and yes I still need to drill the bolters :P). The mk6 guys are being demoted back to tactical marines.

Thanks

Thanks dude!

They are in the painting queu as I want to get the troops done first. What bolters do you mean?

The combi melta on the serg is from the space marine commander box set and the other is scratch built. The box mags are from the forgeworld bolters.

Ah yeh I'm trying to get my troops done too, and I ment the forgeworld bolters

I bought them from fw. I think they come in a pack of 10. I originally intended to use them as is but realised i like the box mag standard bolters more.

I've got 3 marines finished and 3 more pip but theyre still at my mates which is where i do all my painting at the moment through lack of space. I'm constructing the rest of the tac marines this evening.
