WIP -The Sentinels-

Recommended Posts

So i saw my old GKs sitting in my hobby box a few days ago, and decided they could do with some new paint. Originally i had painted them up in a drybrush gold and bronze style, but that was several years ago and my painting has come on a bit since then.

Looking through some other PCA threads, I decided on this scheme:

What do you think? I have 4 more terminators to do. Shall I continue with the fire? I was thinking about doing the same scheme but in blue/green/purple etc

Ill write up some fluff too...

All c&c welcome.

Simply amazing. Makes me wonder what you have in store for the vents on the rear. It seems--to me at least--that once those are done they will break up the black and help to balance the model, although even if you leave the rear black the model will still be amazing.

Thanks for all the positive responses guys :). I think that I will continue the flame across the GKT squad, the only problem will be making them look distincitive yet uniform as a squad...

Anyway, I painted up the incinerator arm, trying to do some blue flames on the weapons casing. They didn't work as well as the red flames, but im still happy with it overall. The exhaust ports on the back also received a lick of paint, tell me what you think.

Also, I dug up one of the old PAGKs who is yet to be stripped....

Beautiful work. Truly inspirational. I was wondering, do you have any test minis with a blue/green colour? The reason I ask is that I was considering using an "ethereal" fire effect on my Terminators (which are mainly dark blue) and would be interested to see how green works in that context.

Unfortunately, I rarely plan ahead when I paint models, so this is the only one I have. Sorry.

Also, what do you think about a lava marbled effect on the next one, simillar to this

Hopefully, this will be the first of two updates tonight, weather permitting.

One man down now, all fully painted. I can't decided whether I should do words on the seals and scrolls because my free-hand skills are pathetic when it comes to fine detail work, and I feel that it could ruin the model in one fell swoop.

Gorgeous. When in doubt, micron pens work for seal-script. The catch is that they don't try too quick in my experience, and if you Varnish the marks too soon they smudge. So in the past when I have used it, say on a squad i just finished, i mark 'em all up and then shelf them for a couple weeks, no touching, just to be sure.

However, I'd say the rest of the model already contradicts your self-proclaimed fine detail suckage :teehee:

  • 2 weeks later...

Oh boy, your variant Grey Knights are called the Sentinels? My DIY Chapter, the Sentinels, sometimes gets mistaken for Grey Knights. Because, you know, Grey Knights have some sort of copyright on Mithril Silver or something.

Actual comments though; excellent fire effects. I'd recommend doing something to the metallics of the blades, to make them look less... flat? Yes, that's the word I'm looking for.
