SamaNagol
In 4th with the PDF, my VAS would be specialist anti infantry or anti armour running multiple power weapons and flamers or hammers, fists and meltas. Now Honour Guard are one of the better point costed units with their untargetable Novitiate. What load outs are you running for your 5 man units? I was looking at: Chapter Banner + Power Weapon Thunder Hammer + Meltagun Storm Shield Storm Shield Novitiate It keeps the cost down, too many PWs and Storm Shields and you would be better served taking Terminators, and the armament is spread so I can allocate Power Weapon attacks onto models who will not be doing the bulk of my wounds in combat. I'd love to hear what you guys are running I'm your squads? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213076-honour-guard-load-outs/ Share on other sites
DokSnyder
I always buy the Blood Champion for the additional WS. Furthermore, I buy one guy with TH and SS, so I dont automatically lose the TH when there are 5 unsaved AP2 or PW wounds. My idea would be: Blood Champ. TH +SS SS Meltagun Novitiate This way you can allocate an unsaved AP2/PW wound to a guy without special weapons, but your TH also has protection if needed. SamaNagol
Novitiate can't take additional wargear. / I usually find with the small unit size, you can allocate pw attacks all on the 2 models when mixed in with the regular attacks from the unit. JamesI
I used to run this: Champion Novitiate 1 Power fist+meltagun 2 bolt pistol and chainsword. I am going to be rebuilding my HG from a new box I just bought and am considering something like this: Champion Novitiate Thunder hammer + Meltagun 2 Stormshield + flamer/meltagun. surelock
I am running Blood Champion, and 3 meltaguns w/ the chapter banner as points permit. Very effective for tank hunting and still decent in cc in a pinch. Redfinger
I use them for anti mech and MC, 4 melta's and 3 SS, that way they can shoot to hell what ever they land next too, and live long enough to get a second round of shooting in. But I also run a all jump list and dont ahve the choice of tanks and missle launchers. tahrikmili
Novitiate, Power Fist, Power Weapon, Meltagun, Flamer, Razorback with Lascannon/TL Plasmagun. Great all rounder unit that can intervene with any situation. PhantomPhoenix
Honestly I find keeping them cheap is best, and with the specials weapon options they seem to fill the same role as Chosen in the CSM book, Special Weapon mules. I go with MeltaX2 FlamerX2 in a rhino, but my list is more focused around shooting with CC back up than raw CC power. Brother Nathan
I usually find with the small unit size, you can allocate pw attacks all on the 2 models when mixed in with the regular attacks from the unit. can someone confirm my thinking by reading the remove casultys section on page 24 means you cant stack powerweapon attacks or not. so if the unit gets hit by a powerweapon 3 time each has to be spread out and cant all be used on one model if theres enough wounds to wap around 3 times? not that ive played it that way but it does kinda read that way... Sir Blayse
My honor guard runs: Blood champion, Chapter banner with bolt pistol, Novitiate, 2 PW w/bolt pistol. My squad runs with Seth so they don't need a powerfist. With Furious charge I usually hit first and don't really take many power attacks. With banner and high number of attacks you should kill a ton of the enemy. Lanfear
i plan on trying those setups: 1. Champion (PW+Shield) 2. Novitiate 3. Melta 4. Melta 5. Melta + Jump Packs + Chapter Banner - - - > 245 Points 1. Champion (PW+Shield) 2. Novitiate 3. Lightning Claw + Storm Shield 4. Fist + Storm Shield 5. Thunder Hammer + Storm Shield + Jump Packs + Chapter Banner - - - > 345 Punkte Librarian - Epistolarius - Jump Pack - Sword of Sanguinius - Unleash Rage - - - > 175 Points ===> 520 Points This Setup with attached Epistolarius should be really scary :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213076-honour-guard-load-outs/#findComment-2541385 Share on other sites
