Narse
I'm looking for input on this paint job. I spent alot of time converting him and I want the paint job to live up to the conversion. I just can't seem to think it is up to that standard yet. The knee pad color is still open to change, I haven't really liked any of the colors on the knee so far. The photos seem to diminish any shading you would normally see in real life, but could use some more but due to the large amount of greenstuff work I am finding it hard to do. http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/HQDemonPrince2.jpg?t=1287006353 http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/HQDPRightSide.jpg?t=1287007682 http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/HQDPLeftSide.jpg?t=1287007683 http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/HQDPBackwithWings.jpg?t=1287007685 http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/HQDemonPrinceBack.jpg?t=1287007686 http://i1033.photobucket.com/albums/a412/Bromskad/Thousand%20Son%20Marines/SizeComparison.jpg?t=1287006142 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213114-thoughts-on-the-paint-job/ Share on other sites
Razblood
Maybe a bit of white added to the wings as they sort of blur into the armour at the mo. WingsOfTheFalcon
I think your gold sections would benefit from some sharp edge highlights of either shining gold or mithril silver. I really like the smooth blends between red and yellow. Hemal
Yeah - shade gold with sepia and highlight with mithril, and the blue areas are a bit meh as well - not enough definition and contrast - a wash of black and asurmen blue, touch up to teh base coat, and highlight with base + SW grey and that will look a lot nicer. I don't use Games Workshop paints, so I don't know what color sepia is exactly. I utilize the Vallejo line. I'm under the impression it is either a yellow/brown or a brown/yellow? I've seen people mention it numerous times for the gold effect on Blood Angel marines. Can you give me a little more specifics of its color and consistency, it is a wash right? I used SW grey on the base, and I will do a little more to the blue as well, but highlighting the gold really has me interested. I can see how the effect would be nice. Nachocuban
Vallejo has a sepia wash. http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Paint_Ra...atibility_Chart Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213114-thoughts-on-the-paint-job/#findComment-2536680 Share on other sites
Narse
Vallejo has a sepia wash. http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Paint_Ra...atibility_Chart Ah, perfect my old conversion page became lost. But I don't see Sepia or anything similar under the wash's. But I checked the website I purchase Vallejo at and they do have a Sepia wash, unfortunately I still don't know exactly what color it is so I can't really duplicate the effect until I order more paint.... Hemal
Its like the old brown GW ink, just a lot less strong in terms of pigment, and better flow control than thinned brown ink I am unsure how you can replicate with Vellejo but I would wash with scorched brown + shining gold as a reasonable proxy using GW paints Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213114-thoughts-on-the-paint-job/#findComment-2536826 Share on other sites
