How manta troops in a 2k tournament list

I was wonder how many troop choices u should generally take to make a good list for a 2k tournament. I usually take 9 man squads plus a wolf guard. Right now I have 3 units of grey hunters in rhinos a a 15 man blood claw unit on foot with a rune priest. Would I be better off taking 3 greyhunter squads and using the blood claw points on a nother part of my list like scouts or a tank or even another grey hunter squad since I could use my blood claw models as grey hunters. The rest of my army right now is a lone wolf, a wolf lord on thunder wolf with 10 ferns wolves, long fangs and then another hundred points witch I am thinking of using on a dread or a vindicator or predator.

Usually one scoring unit per 500 points is the standard answer. In each unit I would suggest either a full 10 man unit or a unit with less but lead by a WG and/or IC.

If you have a solid non-scoring unit such as a WG or TWC you can possibly drop down 1 or 2 of your scoring unit's sizes to fit into a RB or the like.

A very generic answer for you

Hope that helps

Depends really on your list.

Standard space wolves will probably run a 1 troop for every 500 points, meaning that about 200 points for every 500 is tied up in troops, Including the Rune priest and Long Fang missle Spam, that 760 for everything else. Really, 4 troops is perhaps excessive, but theres also no overwheming weakness aside from range. Add 25 to each squad if you replace the special weapons guy in a Rhino for Wolf Guard with power fist and Combi Melta.

The other main way is to mech up, many small troops choices with Razorbacks to spam and prevent the anti infantry weapons being that effective.

That being said, to answer your question, yeah, there are a fair few things better then foot mobile blood claws.

3 Thunder Wolf with one packing a fist/hammer and another 1/2 with Storm Sheild costs pretty much the same, but is much more mobile and capable of getting the Charge off. Skyclaws and swift claws are simlar and both provide a agile pace that simply is not present in the march and forget blood claws.

Wolf Scouts are unique in the fact that they, while a bit of a wildcard, can get right behind enemy lines and either tie up a importent unit during the shooting phase or take out a tank. Land Speeders are simlar, only they either flame thrower or melta something.

I run 4 max GH packs at 2k. I ran 5 at 2.5k for Ard Boyz and was happy with that so am not the ultimate stickler for every 500pts. I just like to run GH packs.
