Galdegir
Mark of the Wulfen is the way to go. Good point -to me the biggest reason to take motw is the fluff, Lone Wolves have their whole pack killed in front of their eyes so they are more likely to succumb to the curse of the Wulfen. Plus, the books always describe Wulfen as too savage to be with the rest of his unit -as was the case in the last codex. I'd also take two Fenrisian wolves for extra protection, 55 points total. Spazmonkey
I was just starting on using a Lone Wolf. I was thinking of keeping him in power armor, but the buying my long fangs a rhino just for the Lone Wolf. Has anyone used this? If it dosen't work, TDA. Yeah I have also thought about this. You dont get the 2+/3+ saves but you have a 3+/3+ and you can get him across the board alot faster.... Id be keen to take a TDA LW and the PA LW both with SS/TH or CF and see how they do.... If any one tries them out let us know..... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213182-lone-wolf/page/2/#findComment-2538918 Share on other sites
Orphus
It really all depends on what you're going up against. A TH/SS TDA clad Lone Wolf would be ineffective vs a swarm 'nids list for example but a SB/SS MTW Lone Wolf would work great. And it can also depend on how you want to use him, do you want to throw him in front as a distraction or slipping him around the back and pop tanks? Fluff is a nice factor, but I take him for the fact he rips normal infantry to pieces. He may only inflict two or three wounds, but if he lives he will win combat and stand a chance at annihilating the enemy unit as they run. I wiped out a twelve man kroot squad like this the other day. As for ablative fenrisian wolves... I honestly hadn't thought of that. I'll have to try it out as soon as I get appropriate models, thanks. whiteridder
Well. I also run a lone wolf. He got a thunderhammer, stormshield, terminators armour and 2 wolves. It works very well, but you got problems with missions with killpoints, because sometimes he won't die and your enemy got that points!! Grizwald714
I ran my lone wolf on Saturday with a thunder hammer, storm shield,2 wolves. He was def worth the points he dint really kill a lot of thing but my opponents spent so much time shooting at him that they pretty much forgot about the rest of my army witch helped win 2 of my games because if I idn't have him they would of shot the rest of my army up before they even reached my opponents. one was an all tank guard army and the oth was a blood angles player with 3 vindicators and both of them instead of shooting my grey hunters they mainly used all the large strength 9 templets on my lone wolf. And with the storm shield he just ate shot after shot. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213182-lone-wolf/page/2/#findComment-2540110 Share on other sites
Skirax
I didn't think that Lone Wolves could ride in transports, EVER. Might be wrong though... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213182-lone-wolf/page/2/#findComment-2540593 Share on other sites
Grey Mage
They can, they just cant purchase one. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213182-lone-wolf/page/2/#findComment-2540600 Share on other sites

Sarapham
They can, they just cant purchase one. Bit rules-lawyery though, eh? Not really. If there is an empty rhino or razorback next to him (in PA) he can use it of course. Valerian
They can, they just cant purchase one. Bit rules-lawyery though, eh? No, not at all. Is there any rule that prevents units from boarding transports, provided they meet a few basic requirements? If there is a transport on the board, that a Grey Hunter pack could embark on, then that is a transport that a Lone Wolf could embark on, instead. The Lone Wolf is just like any other unit, and without a specific restriction, then there is no reason to treat him differently. He can't buy a transport, but he can board one. A Wolf Priest can't buy a transport, but he can board one, too. No difference. Grizwald714
Ok so if a lome wolf can get into an unused transport. I was wondering if their is for ex. A unit of grey hunters I'm a rhino and their is only 9 models on it and it can carry 10 could the lone wolf hop in and hitch a ride I'm not talking about joining the unit just jumping in and taking the unused seat in the transport. Or would this count as joining a unit witch he can't do cause he's not and ic. Grey Mage
No, one unit *and ICs* in a transport at a time. You could however load him into a Landraider all by his lonesome.... Costly, but fun. Only one unit can ride in a transport at a time, so it is either the Lone Wolf or the Grey Hunters, but not both. Independent Characters are different, because they have rules for attaching to other units. So, technically, it is a case of multiple units riding in the same transport, but the rules for attaching provide allowances for the exception to the normal rule for only 1 unit. Marshal Wilhelm
Buy something for your Fangs. It is not like they really use it. Then deploy it near the Lone Wolf and *toot-toot* All aboard! You can use that Rhino to screen Bikes and Jumpers too  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213182-lone-wolf/page/2/#findComment-2540769 Share on other sites
