dragon950 Posted October 17, 2010 Share Posted October 17, 2010 Playing a couple of planetstrike where 5ish players get to take turns defending and attacking. When a Blood Angle player and me defended not very much worked in our favor except that the other players back lines were smashed as our reinforcements tore everything up. Now it is our turn to attack, the blood angle player is using some of his troops to hammer the front lines while I'm the second wave. We can use 2 named characters or HQs as of right now. Was going to take Ragnar with a wolf guard squad in a land raider redeemer. They are going to be used to open a hole or wipe any troops that come in late. Depending on the other players races I think I'm going to take Ulrik and a squad of terminators with thunder hammers/ss for T5 and over. Depending on points going to take 3 squads of blood claws and 2 squads of grey hunters. Then a squad or so of long fangs for ranged fire support with lascannons and missile launchers for anti-armor/bigt stuff/doom of whatever-it's-called. Points are going to be either 2k or 2500, limited on the armor I can bring since I never focused on buying much armor. kapturowski Posted October 17, 2010 Share Posted October 17, 2010 The one thing I learned from playing Planetstrike as attacker is BRING MORE CHAINFISTS! Those bastions are really hard to crack open and Power Fists and Thunder Hammers just don't cut it, you need that extra die to beat AV14. Brother Nathan Posted October 17, 2010 Share Posted October 17, 2010 for planetstrike tell your blood angl friend to bring dante... precision strike, combined withmelta weapons or thecharge wherever you want.. yes please... for yourself, brin stuff that can kill bastions. dont think wolves have alot thats worth deepstriking like the angels do other than pods... dreads can be great with a gun to tryto knock out the bastion then the powerfist icase that fails, or even to attack the occupants. But after them and your greyhunters alot depends on your terrain setup as to if veichles are going to go anywhere. Oh and vindicatos too... If you have to take that bastion a flamer or two could help open a path to where you need to go. Grey Mage Posted October 18, 2010 Share Posted October 18, 2010 Let him bring alot of jump troops, Id bring alot of Dreads, say 3 with MMs. Shouldnt be hard to scrounge those up. A couple of Landspeeders would be a good investment aswell... Back it up with some nice solid troops choices in DPs- Grey Hunters that is- to give you some depth. A nice mix of Plasma and Melta toting squads. Finish it off with a Whirlwind or two, if you have them.
