Token
Took the idea with wolfskull on the top of the staff from someone, dont remember who.. Didnt quite pull it off, any ideas on how to make it better? Should he have a psychic hood? The SW anti magic is in the weapon, right? Should he have runes on his.. dress? http://www.bork.sverok.net/cpg/albums/userpics/10002/RunePriestFront.jpg http://www.bork.sverok.net/cpg/albums/userpics/10002/RunePriestRight.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213349-my-runepriest/ Share on other sites
Chapter Master Ignis Domus
I would put some runes on the staff and armor. I would make the dress look more like fur. He doesn't need a psychic hood. The staff is what does that. This guy definitely has some potential. slmellon
I used the backpack bit that looks like wings for the top of my staff, you could see if that helps make it look more better, maybe bulk it up or something. It does seem to be missing something. Maybe (if you have them to spare) some rune stones off of the shoulder pads dangling from the staff. And why is he wearing a dress? Did he lose a bet or something. On a side note, Rune Priests don't wear psychic hoods, their magik comes from other sources, ie the runes. Token
Not sure if making the dress furry would be good, think it would look strange. haha, he might have lost a bet.. Got a RunePriest with jumppack, he too has Dark Angel body, looks kinda fitting to me.. I might add some greenstuff teeth and runes on a string, not sure if the greenstuff is sturdy enough to hang dangling from the staff, or if it will break.. What wing part from a backpack to you mean? Is it in the new Space Wolf box? Edit, forgot. Anyone have a good way of painting white cloth? In the past i have tried brown with bleached bone like color drybrushed over it, but think it could be better. Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Fur is always better than a dress. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213349-my-runepriest/#findComment-2538680 Share on other sites

In the past i have tried brown with bleached bone like color drybrushed over it, but think it could be better. Why white? Even the tunics the initiates wear are grey. It's the Chapters base color. I would go grey with gold or yellow runes if you insist on wearing the dress. Perhaps if you are feeling froggy enough, yellow or gold vertical sashes sewn into the tunic/cloak then the runes can be black to stand out more. Might even almost give the appearance of an Inquisitor-esque looking figure, though of course there wouldn't be quite enough red to pull off that look. Token
My marine arent Space Wolves, they are Tor Marines. Still working on the fluff, and perhaps even the name. My main color is blue, which is also the standard color for Librarians, right? JMac
I like the idea of hanging some teeth and claws, maybe a wolf tail would be more suiting and identifying. As for the paint, base paint it white then use a sepia wash to give it that cloak color. Token
Washes.. Dont they make the paint look wet? Or is that just if you use to much? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213349-my-runepriest/#findComment-2538740 Share on other sites
Marshal Wilhelm
GW on painting DA things I don't like things being dry-brushed. It just doesn't look real unless you are painting fur or chain mail. Freman Bloodglaive
With that head you could paint him with dark skin and have him say "I pity the fool" every time he shuts down a psychic power. Valerian
Haha, yeah. Mr.T, what doe the T stand for? Dont know why there arent more darkskinned people in 40k.. Every Space Marine has the Melanchrome implant, which automatically darkens skin to protect from excess radiation, etc., so depending on conditions of the operating environment, all Marines would probably be pretty dark-skinned routinely. JMac
This is getting far off topic. Washes don't make the paint look wet unless you use a lot of it. the right amount and right color will work nicely, then just dry brush over it to highlight. Marshal Wilhelm
And washes, you just use a little? I thought u use washes last when painting.. The thing with painting is you can do many different things, but we all settle into conventions. You could paint, say, trousers Codex Grey, wash Devlan Mud, then paint less of the trousers CG again. When I paint parchment, I do base, layer2, wash, layer3. Or you can use a wash last and create unity between quite separate layers [which rescued a cloak I was painting] NMM was taken from RL canvas paintings, who didn't have metallic paint and so relied on using natural colours and contrast to give the appearance of metal. That then was grabbed by us because people were just painting metallics with a 'low' skill level and wondering why they didn't look good. They grabbed a new technique and wowee! something new for us all to dream of attaining skill at. Now people use NMM and metallic paints combined and it looks A-Mazing! Cool owl. Quite a hoot! Very nice painting, Cain ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213349-my-runepriest/#findComment-2541021 Share on other sites
