Undaunted Legion

I am trying to make an IA, this is what I have so far its not neatly written as it is suppose to be just a way to show what I am trying to go for. I want to get some opinions before I go any further.

Undaunted Legion

Beliefs

The Undaunted Legion believes that they are the Emperor’s weapons, and that fighting is their only purpose. The Undaunted Legion view fighting as their sacred duty, and believe it is the only way to show appreciation for the sacrifices of the Emperor and their Primarch. While some chapters such as the Salamanders and Blood Angels hone their craftsmanship skills, the Undaunted Ones view those sorts of things as a distraction. They spend little to no time partaking in spiritual activities choosing to prepare for war instead. In large campaigns the Undaunted Legion rarely attend mission briefings, instead they choose to fight where the fighting is the thickest. While most chapters have a purpose when they fight, such as removing the taint of chaos or upholding a vow, the Undaunted Legion do not require a purpose to fight.

Origins

The Undaunted Legion was created during the 8th founding to counter the increasing need for CQC specialist near the Eye of Terror. Using the gene seed of Rogal Dorn, the Vanguard Veterans from the Iron Knight’s Chapter accepted the challenge of training the new Son’s of Dorn. After several decades of recruiting and playing small roles in campaigns the new chapter was finally in full fighting condition. Once at full strength the chapter started to travel to worlds where close combat prowess was needed the most, and they quickly earned a reputation for its expertise in close combat and have had several historical clashes against the agents of Khorne.

Home World

The Undaunted Legion’s home world Zavian is located in the Segmentum Obscurus, a small warp jump away from the Eye of Terror. Zavian is a Feral World covered in dense jungles the people there live in a pre-gunpowder age. Hunting and fighting off packs of animals with bows, swords, and axes is the norm for Zavians, however they do not hunt in a conventional way. They battle against packs of animals with the winner scavenging the meat left on the battlefield. With war being their main source of food and only means of survival they make excellent recruits for the chapter.

Organization

The Undaunted Legion originally adheres to the Codex Astartes but after a few centuries they altered the chapter to fit their preferences. Preferring to participate in large campaigns the Undaunted Legion decided to start large crusades, each crusade would have more than 3 Companies worth of marines in them. With their preference for CQC, fearlessness in CC, and their reckless tendency to rush towards their enemy many wonder if the Undaunted Ones use the Codex Astartes at all.

Geneseed

The Undaunted Legion uses the Geneseed of Rogal Dorn.

Undaunted Legion

An interesting name but somehow doesn't roll of my tounge.

So they are completely dedicated to war and are satisfied that their gear is functional if not esteticaly pleasing. Also their veneration of the Emperor is performed on the battlefield. All these are good pointers into the Chapter's psyche. What is strange is the way they fight. If they are Emperor's weapons than their purpose would be to fight for the Emperor, wuldn't it :P

So they are CQC specialists. From the comment about Khorne I would immagine that means hand to hand. If they specialise in h-t-h what are their weak points if they have any and how do they face opponents that are not keen on h-t-h such as Eldar.

What kinds of animals are these when they have to battle them?

From this I would guess you use Codex: Black Templars, and you want to have your Chapter with more man than 1000.

Geneseed

The Undaunted Legion uses the Geneseed of Rogal Dorn.

A good choice.

Battle Cry

"Our Duty, Your Curse"

Considering the beliefs section this is a very good battle cry. I like it very much.

All in all a good start but needs fleshing out while keeping current focus.

Try and streamline your ideas so they are not conflicting each other.

Hrvat

Thanks for the response I to think that the name needs some work perhaps making them The Undaunted Chapter, and I can refer to them as the Undaunted Ones.

Good guess Hrvat, I will be using the Black Templar codex to represent my chapter. I can easily make righteous zeal(special rule) a weakness especially against faster opponents.

I wanted the planet to have creatures similar to Beastmen in fantasy, but I think it might be to close to chaos in 40k. I was thinking about having a wide variety of highly inteligent predators that hunt in packs, that attack the small towns or cities.

I really need some help in the home world, combat doctrine, and origins sections it seems dry to me I wish I could come up with a way to make it more appealing.

Sure. Don't say beastmen though, or people will think Chaos. Just say the wildlife of the planet is incredibly intelligent, and near-sentient. That should convey that they are smart, and doesn't raise questions of Chaos, merely stating that evolution worked especially well on Planet X.

I am at work so my respons will short.

You can have beastmen. They are a type of ab-humans in 40k and are tolerated on some worlds, even some IG regiments are made out of them. Having humans and ab-humans competing would be productive and breed hardy people who are also very xenophobic.

Cheers
