evolved23
I was just recently flicking through the codex. Then suddenly I thought “wouldn't this work great as a proxy codex for the iron snakes" I have couple of reasons for this. 1 flexible organisation wolves codex allows termies in PA units. This just seems iron snakey. 2 counter attack could suggest snakes using a phalanx to push back their opponent. 3 Storm psyker powers just seem a bit more ithikan tbh. However there is one con that I can think of and that is organisation. Your thoughts please. ORKILL
Personally, I'm not crazy about "counts as" armies, unless there is a valid fluff reason behind it. I thought the Iron Snakes were followers of RG. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213458-opinions-please/#findComment-2539940 Share on other sites
Jonas Stromclaw
Iron Snakes are a codex adherent chapter, in theory, but Mr. Abnett's book portrays them far differently with a very loose organizational structure that I think could be very well represented by the wolf codex. Stay away from Thunderwolves, fenrisian wolves, and Mark of the Wulfen, and I think you'll be fine. dödsjycklaren
I think it would work really well. The iron snakes are basically a codex chapter but the seems (according to the book) like they are based on squad level rather than company level. As for count as i approve greatly, the codex is simply a set of rules if you can make an army that fits the rules then go for it. counter attack would be the iron snakes standing in shield wall formation and fighting back 300 style the iron snakes did have a lot of weapons on them, using bolters first then switching to cc weapons. Much like our grey hunters. Though it will be hard to do Shield/spear marines, unless youre willing to have a lot of wolf guards with storm shields ;) As previously said, stay away from thunderwolves, fenrisian wolves and such. I dont see terminatos in normal squad as fitting. That said, using normal power armoured Wolf guard would fit nicely in my opinion Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213458-opinions-please/#findComment-2541065 Share on other sites
Mullinstron
I thought the Iron Snakes were big on Apothecaries ? You could also use the Blood Angles to rep them as well. They have the Sang Priests you can add to any squad and they have mostly the same troops as normal marines. ~m Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213458-opinions-please/#findComment-2541251 Share on other sites
Gunslinger87
Iron Snakes can only really be proxied by Black Templars. Simply because of the amount of storm/combat shields they can dish out. It wouldn't be very effective, mind you, but imagine a line of storm shield guys and heavy weapons behind them etc. Would look amazing on the table. But there is nothing in the rules that would make such a strategy worthwhile... thats more for a Chess - pawn style game :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213458-opinions-please/#findComment-2541254 Share on other sites
