the perfect Space Wolf insult....

They came through the early morning fogs. They were unseen at first, we only knew they were there by their mono-tone chant 'For the Russ'. At first we thought we were hearing the ghosts of our fallen brothers, echoes of the great warriors lost weeks before. Perhaps early morning winds carrying their voices to guide us in battles yet to come. Then Hrethgir was felled by a powerful blast. The blast nearly incinerated his body, it only left his charred burned remains contained with in his still melting armour. With out pause we leapt to our feet ready to make battle. Again, we heard a monotone chant of 'For the Russ' echo through the cool morning air. Then the fire came upon us. With all the accuracy of our brothers they moved in, firing their weapons. Our shots merely richocheted off their armor. While they closed in, they killed. But draw them in we did. At tooth and claw, we were better and we knew it. We would draw them into hand to hand and best them. And so we did. In the mists of the morning, we engaged these attackers like true sons of the Russ! We did bring carnage to them and we feeled them to a man. It was only later, as the mists cleared in the light of the rising sun that we did discover the truth. The attackers who had Killed Hrethgir, the very ones who had mocked us with their chants of Russ, the very ones that we ourselves had killed... were none other then our brothers, enslaved by the dark powers, forced to fight their own brother even beyond their own death...

A while back I had an idea for a counts-as unit of Thousand Sons. Captured enemy marines that have been Servitorized into zombi-esque combat units. I figure my warband has close ties to the Dark Adeptus and this would explain how they have the ability to construct these. The AP 3 bolts is explained as the constructs utilizing captured Kraken bolter rounds while the 4+ inv save is explained as having a force field, curtousy of the Dark Adeptus. The Sorceror is infact a Dark Adeptus tech priest, which is in fact the point of this first post. I'm still waiting on the cyborg parts to come in from MaxMini so I can build the Space-servitors. But I have completed the Tech Priest and want to show him off a bit and get any feed back or criticism on him I can. Honest feed back only please.

Oh and just to clarify, yes I am going to be running Space Wolves that count as Thousand sons... http://yahoofreak.com/emoticons/Evil%20Emoticons/devil5.gifhttp://yahoofreak.com/emoticons/Evil%20Emoticons/devil5.gifhttp://yahoofreak.com/emoticons/Evil%20Emoticons/devil5.gifhttp://yahoofreak.com/emoticons/Evil%20Emoticons/devil5.gif

I don't see him as "Dark" from the picture. More like a Techmarine with some kind of master crafted weapon. And I see the icon on the back, but it could easily be mistaken for an iron halo. Maybe after paint it would look more "Dark", but for now it just looks like a regular techpriest/techmarine, IMHO.

hmm... interesting point that I hadn't considered. How would a Dark Adeptus Tech Priest differ from an Adeptus Mechanicus Tech priest?

awesome idea! although in my mind really anything that f***s over the space wolves is pretty cool. ;) unfortunately i gotta agree with Myxx in that the model, just isnt "chaosy" enough. but id recommend, like he said, more spikes, and maybe a couple chaos marine bitz thrown in for good measure. theres a few pretty good pictures of dark mechanicus guys floating around, if you need inspiration. but yeah, cant wait to see where you go with this mate.

when i think of dark adept i think of a guy who specializes in creating demon weaponry and builds machines with trapped demons. he just looks like a regular tech adept. the iron warriors also make use of demonic powered cybernetics in their "possesed" marines as described in the last chaos marine codex. which sounds like what youre thinking of.

I think the modle looks pretty good as it is but some 'spidery' looking servo-arms would look really cool and menacing.

The Dark Mechanicus wear black robs so their is a simple way to differentiate them from their loyal mechanicum kin. I would suggest panting the skin using a grey tone with purplish shading and perhaps a brass or gold tone for the armour. There is a lot that can be achieved with a characterful colour scheme.

I approve of this thread! I can never really forgive the Space Wolves for what they did to the Thousand Sons no matter how cool and viking-like they may be.. Anyway, I look forward to seeing this progress and I definitely agree with the spider-y backpack. Kinda like Invader Zim's backpack if you know what I'm talking about? It would look evil, and pretty darn awesome.

Well one thing to remember is that this particular Tech priest isn't a big baddie in the Dark Adeptus. I mean you don't send your best and brightest mind to the front line to fight with the fud-fuds after all. But yeah, I think I can add some... darkness to him with the addition of some chaos bits.

and one other thing to remember if that this particular model is meant to count as an Aspiring Sorceror. The "plasma Ax" is the count as Force weapon, the emitter matrix on the head counts as both the Doom Bolt and the Bolt pistol with Inferno Bolts.

so, after almost a month the parts I ordered came in. Then after dealing with a slew of other problems arising over the following 2 weeks, I finally got some time to carry out this plan. I give you the first 5 models of my Lobotomized Space Wolf Servitors that count as Thousand Sons marines:

I have a plan for a new Aspiring Sorcorer, and that is based on this image from the Horus Heresy Art books:

I've seen people using robbed legs, but they aren't Dark Angel legs. They're far thinner then would look right for power armored legs covered in robes. I thought they were from Scribor Miniatures, but I can't find them now. Can anyone help me out with this?

i have seen people use the robes from Iron Lich Asphixioushttp://privateerpress.com/files/products/cryx/warcasters/iron-lich-asphyxious.png

not sure if thats what you are looking for, but he would make a good base for a general.

It's basically impossible to look creepier or more demented than some of the stuff the regular Adeptus Mechanicus uses, and certainly impossible to look more bionic (since they tend to aim for 100% bionic).

That picture for your sorcerer inspiration is just a regular old tech priest, I believe, and if not, I've seen freakier. Seriously, some of the things that are "mundane" to the AdMech are outright nightmare fuel to anyone else.

The best way to distinguish Dark Mechanicus would be colors, Chaos symbols, and daemonically mutated bits.

Er..... just noticed the date on the previous post. How did this get on the first page for me to comment on it???????

As for the tech priest- I'd use a skaven lord as a base to make it look darker- I've seen conversions using Ikit Claw, who already looks dark and mechanical, the Engineer comes to mind immediately, but personally I'd bionify this guy. A skaven base would make an engineseer look nurgley and bloated- or perhaps more like an old, fat, bionic grouch.

Great work on the mecha-wolves -it makes the Iron Wolf cry ;)

errerrr.... that's a darn good question. Mods.. got an answer?

but on the topic of an evil looking adeptus, Bad Budha had an idea for an Inquisitorial henchman that I think is a winner.

Use the new Wraith model as a basis.

Okay I know it's been like 3 years since I posted about these guys. That's about the way my life works most of the time. I sold the original servitor-wolves a while back when I sold my last Chaos army. But I'm starting another one and the whole servitorized captured space wolves that count as thousand sons.... god I just love that irony, I'm putting models of the space wolves on the table that count as thousand sons all it really needs is for them to be lead by a Dark Angels Librarian (hmmm....).... anyway. Sorry ADHD kicking in there. I really love this idea so I'm revisiting it. Last time I got hung up on the counts as aspiring sorcerer model. Well I think I've got it hammered out:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a316/maverike_prime/Warhammer/Chaos%20Space%20Marines/Counts%20as%20Thousand%20Sons/SAM_0934_zps920bd361.jpg

The mecha-axe is way bigger then I originally thought it would be, but after building the model and looking at it I've found I like it more like this. Gives this look of an over-burdened menial level worker. Like he pissed off his magos so he got assigned to lead the combat servitors into battle in agreement with whatever Chaos lord we're serving this week.

"But master, I am no warrior. I have no weapons." he pleads.

"Error! Condition: No weapons. Rectified." The Dark Magos tones in his digital logic influenced speak as he shoves the Atomic Glave at the menial.

"But... my lord... I can not wield such a weapon." The menial whines.

"Statement: Unable to wield weapon. Condition: True. Subject: Verehnass Omicron Psi 91168. Conclusion: Learn. Communication status: Terminated!" The Dark Magos replies coldly.

Anyway, the model itself is based on the Cairn Wraith model, though it's been rather extensively modified. The only parts from the model I actually used were the cloak and skull face. Everything else was added. I stuck a big wad of Green stuff into the empty cavity to give me a body to work with. Then I took a pair of mechanical legs from Anvil Industries Bionic Legs set and cut the legs from the groin and use wire to mount the legs into the green stuff. I had to cut and chop down the length of the cloak on the model to allow it to accommodate the fact that it's not going to be floating any more. Once the legs where mounted I went to work on the mecha-dendrites. I used a set of Servo Skulls from Forge World  and added the small tools to the end of the tubing I got from Dragon Forge Design. Bending the tubing proved to be a new exercise for me. I used a series of pen bodies, and tool handles of various sizes to provide a form to bend the cables around that way it would 'coil' as opposed to bend. For the left hand... er.... thing, I decided to go with something a bit different and took a small section of medium sized tubing, drilled out a hole in the center of the tubing and glued in a set of three segments of small wire. My intent was to make it look like the adepts hand disassembled and this data connection/micro manipulator/whatever extended out of his wrist. Not sure I succeeded or not.

The weapon was a whole different ball game. I got the axe it self from Max Mini's Steam Punk weapons line, cut down the length of the shaft to better accommodate the size of the model and went to work on the head (jesus that sounds like a lead in for a bad porno). The Emitter Matrix is made from a cut down section of a Necron sniper rifle and then attached to the back of the axe head.

Wow, I just listed off parts that I got from 5 separate companies. I gotta say that kinda surprises me. Anyway, I'm gonna try and base it later today.
