Voltaire
Last night I fought a friend in a 1000pt game, and lost due to bad deployment, and a lack of instantanious and effective stopping power. My list x2 Priest - Tail - tooth - chooser x2 Grey hunters - x5 - flamer Grey hunters -x5 - melta Long fangs x5 - L'can - x2 P'can - H'bolter Long fangs x5 -L'can - x3 missiles Razorback -TL ass'can x2 Razorback TLP'gun -L'can 1000pts I dont see significant problems with this list, yet at the same time I hope my loss wasn't totally due to my deployment choices. I'm fighting a Landraider, Flame predator, one Libby-naught, and a furiouso, as well as a 5 man assault squad witha reclusiarch and x8 death company. Is it me, the list(s) or both? jmurph
A little of both. BAs are no pushover and your list could use some tweaking. Two RPs is excessive for this points level. Drop one. And drop everything but the Chooser- keep that if you like Living Lightning. Get more melta GHs. They smoke the vehics. Switch the LF's to all MLs. They pop the PA guys. Hop in Razorbacks/Rhinos to prevent the flame pred from eating you. I would also suggest getting some WG with Combi-meltas and fists for your squads. Mark Of the Wulfen GHs also add alot of hitting power. Las/Plas is probably a good choice due to the small squad sizes and that it can take on the dreads and tank. I would probably run: Rune Priest: Chooser 3x WG, Pfist, Combi-Melta 5x GH- melta, Wulfen Razorback las/plas 5x GH- melta, Wulfen Razorback las/plas 5x GH- melta, Wulfen Razorback las/plas 6xLF (5 ML + leader) 6xLF (5 ML + leader) Setup LF's in cover toward center, but stay back (don't let LR rush hit you!), run 1st turn as necessary. GHs on flanks to guard against Baal- snipe at Dreads if LOS allows. Try to get Lib first as it's faster. Drop melta on anything that gets too close (like the baal or LR). Use missiles to hit power armor guys. If you pop the LR, make sure to missile the guys inside- S8 AP3 should sort them pretty fast. If you can weaken his two squads, they will have trouble rushing your squads- counterattack with MoTW and PFist is nasty. If you don't like running the RP behind the transports, drop a RB and grab a rhino plus some more GH for that squad. May want to try to squeeze in wolf standards. Fred Johnson the 3rd jr
My list x2 Priest - Tail - tooth - chooser You know that your HQs cannot have identical wargear right? If they do your list is illegal. Also, 15 troops is too low for my liking at this point level. Grey Mage
Indeed, 3 five man GH squads just is not enough. 2 10-man squads is the minimum Ill run, often with a 5 man razorback squad for the HQ. And with no transports they would be sitting ducks to DP forces and Baals.
