renegadewarp
Two questions I suppose. It says a grey knight hero may be given any equipment allowed by the Daemon hunters Armory. Does that mean it's possible to give him a lightning Claw as well as a Nemesis for weapon kind of like Abaddon. And if possible then in combat can you use both and re-roll all wounds? Gentlemanloser
You can give him a LC (and replace the SB) aongside his NFW. You can *never* use two different weapons together. So it's S4 reroll wounds Power Weapon, or S6 Force Weapon. chaplainmeliadus
Never is a strong word, as Abbadon can, but that's only because he is a special character with his own unique rules. The rest of us work just as Renegadewarp says. Ozybonza
Indeed it would also be a little silly to give him both, being that you can't use them together. There is not a single situation where S4 with re-rolls to wound would be better than S6 unless you are fighting toughness 2/3 infantry. Eddie Orlock
There is not a single situation where S4 with re-rolls to wound would be better than S6 unless you are fighting toughness 2/3 infantry. Italics are mine. Depending on your play environments and attitudes, spec'ing against a guard/eldar/sororita horde may be fair. You do counter your own claim. Personally, if I was going to give up the gun, I'd probably have picked a chainfist, just so he could carve up land raiders like thanksgiving dinner. Chengar Qordath
Even against Guard/Sororitas, you should take into account that the NFW can insta-kill any multi-wound models thanks to being strength 6. There's also the fact that a strength 6 force weapon makes the GM a very effective MC killer. Inquisitor Fox
There's also the consideration that if you're trying to specialize against a horde heavy environment you may be better served by giving the Grand Master an Incinerator, and then following that up with the Nemesis Force Weapon :P I haven't ran any math, but I'm thinking that should generate more deaths in one total turn than one round of combat from the Lightning Claw. Brovius
I personally feel that is a waste of the GM's higher ballistic skill. BS5 is very rare in our army, so we should be trying to make the most out of it. I take my GM with a Psycannon (relentless is awesome) I usually have one of his retinue with an incinerator though, but if you need more, remember that an Elites slot GKT brother captain also has access to the armoury. That's an idea, a Dakka-squad of GKTs with 3 Psycannons :evil Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213545-grand-masterwargear-rulings/#findComment-2548974 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Can't happen I'm afraid. :tu: Only one GKT can upgrade thier SB, so at most you can get two. Unless you're talking aobut adding a GKGM to a normla GKT Elite Squad, but in that case, just purchase an Inquisitor with TDA and a Psycannon. :D I used to run my GKT Squads as 3 man, with 2 Psycannons. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213545-grand-masterwargear-rulings/#findComment-2548986 Share on other sites
RogueTraderX
3 Psicannons works out fine in Brovius' example. He says he uses an elites slot squad to accomplish this plus the GM (when he really needs the fire power). An inquisitor lord would be a cheaper option, but inferior in both shooting and HtH. He only has a bs of 4 without a sage, and well everything is inferior to a GKGM in HtH! Gentlemanloser
Yes you could, but the example specifically mentions a GK Hero's Retinue. Which if you use it (for the awesomeness of shielding the GKGM in CC), then you can't have a 3 Psycannon squad. Without drafting in another IC. As the GK Hero retinue doesn't include the standard BC with armory access.
