marine77
I have added another short battle report. I played a 2,000pt game against a very interesting Eldar list. Check it out here at: Gone to Ground. Please leave comments. I would love to hear people's thoughts on the game and the lists involved. Thanks! mughi3
Ah dreads, a man after my own heart. :) Your right about eldar. they need mech to be useful. they are very specialised and i have had them hurt me quite a number of times in the hands of competant players. Hellios
I disagree that Eldar need to be meched up to be competitive but it is far easier to play a mechanised Eldar list and a footdar list needs to be different from a mechdar list on foot or it will die. But mechdar are great as they are fast, makes your troops more likely to survive and since most if the eldars best stuff is short range or mounted on vehicles thats a big issue... but footdar isn't impossible... To make it worse he is foot slogging Iyaden with all his troops as Wraithguard... seriously he is just luck you lacked AP3 big templates... and thats a lot of points eaten... and then the seer council eats more points. You can get away (IMO) with of big scoring unit of Wraithguard which with conceal and fortune can become a pain in the ass to kill... although some things will sort them out easily... but if you want a lot of wraithguard you want to stick them in Wave Serpents with enhance. marine77
Honestly, I think the thing that killed him is that he had little to no long range shooting. His only long range shooting came in the form of vypers of which 1 died the top of turn 1 due to dangerous terrain, the other 2 turbo boosted. I then popped a second one in turn 1 and then the 3rd one missed his only missile shot because he hits on a 4+. He then was gone. Everything else in the army had a 12" range or less. With bikes and speeders coming into his side of the table, I had full capability of sniping out models while staying out of range or any return fire. It also absolutely killed him to have to take 3 rounds of combat to kill a single ironclad when his seer council was affectively S9. That was just bad luck though.
