ellis_esquire
Hi all, So the rules are starting to sink in but having jsut about worked out my army list I went up against a Chaos Deamon player on Thursday night. heres what I took. Command Squad: Azrael Banner Bearer (with plasma pistol) Champion (Plasma Pistol, Combat shield and Power Sword) Apothecary 2 x Veteran with melta guns Ravenwing: Sammual 1st RAS - Serg with power sword and plamsa pistol, 1 plasma gun, 1 melta gun 2nd RAS - Serg with power sword and bolt pistol, 1 flamer, 1 TL bolter Veteran Squad: Drop pod 4 power swords and bolt pistols (2 with combat shields), 1 lightning claws, 1 plasma pistol, 1 double chainswords, all lead by interrogator chaplain. Deathwing 1 squad - assault cannon, storm bolters and power fists, serg with power sword. Dreadnohgt TL LC and missile launcher To cut a long story short he obliterated all Ravenwing by about turn 3. Turn 1 went well as Azraels command squad took out a huge Deamon heading towards my objectives. Deathwing Deepstrike severely hurt the other one with firepower. I sent my Ravenwing in Turn two up his flank to attempt to take his objective from his fiends. Then by his turn two these Bezerkers overran my ravenwing, his second Deamon destryed Azrael and team in close combat. Then turned on the Deathwing and did likewise in turn 3. His bezerkers flattened my veterans as they emerged from the droppod and the game had to end due to time with his fiends of slaneesh (things with big claws) chasing sammy into close combat leaving him with one wound. His fleet of foot just meant I could not escape. Plus dreadnought never got to come on which I suspect limited my long range support. Annyway - it was pretty scary! How does my army list look and what fundamental errors did I make? To my mind Azraels team did well but werent supported enough, and needed more long range firepower... When you say berzerkers do you mean blood letters? because you can't take chaos space marines with the daemons codex :geek:... Not bein there it is hard to say but maybe try and keep your ravenwing away from the daemons if you can (you don't need to rush for the objective as long as you can capture/contest on turn 5). Ash
Firepower on daemons always gets them, clump up the guns put a speed bump out in front of them and shoot the daemons all the way back to the eye of terror. Your list is generalised and a little CC orientated nothing wrong with that but that rifle dread needed to on the board right from the get go shooting the MC's. A heavy flamer and CC weapon would be nice on him then he is the speed bump. Flamers work well on demons anytime take as many as you can, heavy flamers work better. I am no expert but you probably did not need to do much except stay out of combat and shoot in the first few rounds, he has to get close to you, not the other way around. Only half his army is on the board to start, use that weakness and vapourise them with concentrated firepower ASAP. The bikes can always contest near end game if they are still on the board. Otherwise shoot him to pieces and flame the survivors he needs to shut down your guns or become a grease spot. ellis_esquire
Hi guys - thanks for thoese replies. Hillios - Yes - I think they were blood letters - they rode mechanised like wolves and were nasty. SemperAstartes - Thanks for your great an comprehensive reply. Yes I really do see the advantage of heavy firepower with the Daemonic. I was keen on engaging with all my CC units and indeed they did me proud but once they got up close and personal, particularly rhe bloodcrushers and fiends of slaanesh, I was cornered and outnumbered in terms of wounds! Very informative gents so thanks! For the Lion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213724-my-4th-battle/#findComment-2543725 Share on other sites
