Code 187 Posted October 24, 2010 Share Posted October 24, 2010 Managed to get a game with my long term friend/opponent yestereday. Mission was capture & control, DoW setup. Rolled for 5 objectives BA: Dante + HG (Chapter banner, 2PW, PP, PG, Apoc) Mephiston Tac squad x10 (flamer/ml) RAS x5 RAS x5 Baal Pred (HB sponsons) LR RG: Shrike Kor'sarro Khan Tac squad x10 (HB, MG, PF, Droppod with deathwind) tac squad x10 (LC, flamer, PW, razorback) ASM x10 2PP, TH Predator TLLC, HBs Vinicator x2 RG won deployment and 1st turn. RG deploy 5 tacs in RB and 5 with LC on an objective, BA deploy LR with tacs inside and Meph behind Turn 1 RG Droppod lands in front of LR. Tacs disembark and fire MG at LR, fail to hit. LC can't draw range to target. BA LR wrecks DP. Meph moves towards tacs, fries 1 then assaults with rage/SS, killing 4 for no reply. RG tacs hold ground w/o loss despite failing morale check. Turn 2 Rg Pred and Vindi arrive from reserve. Pred fails to hit LR. Tacs in RB seize objective. Meph kills 3 tacs in CC, no reply. Whole BA army arrives. Dante + HG arrive, PG blows Vindi near LC tacs. Explosion fails to kill anything. 5 RAS fall into terrain and lost to perils test. Other RAS land well away from LC tacs. Baal pulps RB with TLAC & kills 1 marine inside with blast. RAS shoot 1 of survivors. Meph finishes the tacs. PF Sarge failed to hit/wound Meph in 3 combats Turn 3 Vindi arrives, lines up nearby HG and scatters well away (phew) LC tacs kill 2 HG. Tacs from RB kill 4 RAS from shooting/CC. tacs deploy from LR, claim 1 objective and head to another. Dante personally finishes Vindi with IP (1st time he's destroyed anything since the new dex with it!), LR pops the TLLC on Pred Turn 4 Shrike, Khan and the ASMs arrive via outflank, right next to LR and Tacs. Shoot/assault Tacs and wipe them out and immobilise the nearby LR with a lucky TH hit. Only 1 LC can shoot at anything due to angles. Dante + HG move to LC tacs, shoot 2. Baal/LR kill 1 ASM each (bah) Meph charges the Shrike/Khan/ASM squad and puts 2 wounds on Shrike (If only I'd cursed him instead of Khan) Shrike/Khan fail, but ASMs put 2 wounds on Mephy. Dante swats the LC tacs aside by himself and advances towards remaining 3 tacs from RB. Turn 5 Meph kills Khan (got rid of his nasty instant death rule there) Shrike and the ASMs kill Meph, Pred kills SP from HG, leaving only the Chapter banner & Dante. LR kills 1 ASM. Dante reaches the 3 tacs and swats them aside. As this point we rolled for extra turn and failed. No scoring units on either side so game was drawn. About 700 pts of BA remain and 500 of RG. The turning point was definately the Vindi miss. Dante killed the tacs claiming 2 objectives and my other forces couldn't have pulled that off with any certainty. The epic failure of his bloated command squad o' death to arrive on time gave me a good chance to rip him apart without too much resistance. My ASMs and tacs did nothing except die badly. If it went on another 2 turns I think I'd have tabled my opponent but he was hugely unlucky with his dice rolls, especially his scatter, which he almost never misses. C&C welcome!!
