Casual Heresy
Uhm...actually good question. Never thought of it. They are tecnically a bit on the wrong side at the moment, not sure that the chapter they came from would welcome them back. But apart from this, I guess they come from some kind of techmarine-heavy chapter which served in the Damocles Gulf crusade. which are... :P dunno...I'll check! Might I suggest the Praetors of Orpheus? As far as I remember they operate near or in Ultramar and they have plenty of techmarines because they openly embrace technology. I'd see them using Tau tech. There was a debate going on about the AdMech in the Necrons rumour thread. One guy was arguing that the AdMech and other organisation would capture and utilise alien tech. I a marine chapter was to do this I suspect they would be a chapter like the Praetors. I'll check them on lexicanum/other to have a feel and maybe I could incorporate a bit of their fluff/paint scheme etc... ;) thanks a bunch lord andreas!! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213771-deep-in-tau-territory-a-mod-log-2210-bolter-drones/page/6/#findComment-2869817 Share on other sites
Casual Heresy
Anything to help an imaginative modeller. Now back to work. Castiel
There's a wee bit in the vanilla 'dex on the Praetors of Orpheus. Its just a paragraph, but it might help you a bit! It also gives you a paint scheme. Taz
I like the concept, keep up the cool work. I want to see some paint on these guys. Your converting is improving, too. The wheelie gun drones remind me of CL4P-TP from Borderlands. On a side note: I see you lurking there, Ardonis. Go away. det
I checked the chapter...they have nothing to do with the damocles gulf crusade, but who cares, they might just be there. Paint scheme though is not of my liking, but the blue is already incoporated in my paint scheme, and the knee cap thing too. read something on them on lexicanum etc. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213771-deep-in-tau-territory-a-mod-log-2210-bolter-drones/page/6/#findComment-2870879 Share on other sites

MedPig
I hate Thread Necromancy as much as the other guy, but having been here since the Beardy days of such legends as GreyDeath, and being a convertor myself, I need to step in. Think of me as a Dread, only waking once in a while... We can safely assume Space marines are NOT stupid. Should they find themselves someplace with no handy repair service, no contact with anyone likely to care, and in full view of a boatload of enemy parts, only a complete MORON would insist on not using enemy tech to complete the mission. There's a good reason NATO units trained with Soviet weapons during the Cold War. Think about it. Is it Heretical? Sure. Would an Inquisitor have puppies if they found out? Sure. Would these guys MAYBE be entitled to some leeway if they completed their mission, blew the snot out of everything, and still managed to get home? Maybe. Hey, maybe they'll just get checked out, issued new STC gear, and be thanked. Maybe they'll be mind-wiped, and used as IG, or something. But they GOT THE JOB DONE. In the Fire/Rescue Service, we had an expression, "If it's DUMB, but worked, then it wasn't THAT dumb..." I rather like this thread. Carry on. Returning to my sleep now... Melekharn
I blame Medpig for making me stumble upon this thread... His Threadromancy is just THAT strong. If the OP still reads this thread/forum, you've got some incredibly well executed models here. Sure, some of them need some cleaning up (assuming you haven't since you stopped posting updates when this thread became bombarded with Melta-torpedoes) But in all, you've put the pieces together wonderfully! Please, oh please post some painting images if you have made any more progress - I hope that Fluffy Hitler the negative one hasn't put you off what is a great idea. I didn't read much into it... But do you have any fluff/background as to why your marines have ignored certain Imperial Creeds and started using Xeno-tech? Hope you're still around and creating! ~Mel Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213771-deep-in-tau-territory-a-mod-log-2210-bolter-drones/page/6/#findComment-3007750 Share on other sites
det
...you know, just the other day, blowing dust from my models I found these again...some of them needed priming so I just did it and now a unit is waiting on my workbench. Ok, there's other stuff in the line before them, but they are there...so yep, actually expect updates rather "soon". As far as fluff goes...there was something in the thread...but I never wrote a good one, so suggestions are still welcome. They are something like a group of marines, maybe even from different chapters, which found themselves deep in tau territory. Having started to loot tau stuff to continue fighting, though maybe even not against the tau at the moment, they stumbled across an inquisitor. He has a rather open view and so this force became loyal to him in exchange of some protection/help from/with more puritanical/fanatical imperial forces. As a matter of fact the same inquisitor pays a group of mercenary blood axes orks to do other work...so here you go my 10k pts apocalypse force...:) I will paint them...promise!! :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213771-deep-in-tau-territory-a-mod-log-2210-bolter-drones/page/6/#findComment-3007868 Share on other sites
det
...and so 6ed came rolling in...and this old barracuda prject just fits in perfetcly with my marine forse allied with the tau brothers...hehe...nice thing allies!! Must start working on some kroot troops (or fire warriors if the 1+ AVA for fw is mandatory even as allies) and a HQ, maybe shadowsun, which fits with my remora gun drone and stealth suits... yeay! det
hehe times passes...but I never forget my taumarines. Every now and then (read: once every 3-6 months) I actually do work on them. Captain got slightly reworked, army list got redone (no more ultramarines stuff, now they follow the mantis warrior way) and even some painting gets done, so slowly that every time take the brush to the minies I need to brush the dirt off before any painting can be done. But here is the latest addition: 2 "sniper drones". you know, everything is cheaper (read: only using one special character instead of two) and I needed another two valiant members of my scout squad, which now sports the telion miniature "counting as" a standard scout vet sgt. http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z179/detted/DSCF0361_zps58410b01.jpg hehe...have fun! det
...hehe...call me a "slow painter"...it took me around 5 years to finish these ladz...and still more could be done but there is a limit to everything! det
Thanks man!! det
So I managed to finish the razorback...I know, not very high level painting, but it's good for the tabletop methinks! Here it is: http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z179/detted/DSCF0005_zps6dbff4db.jpg http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z179/detted/DSCF0006_zps8ebb90ba.jpg http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z179/detted/DSCF0003_zpsbfc5785c.jpg and here are all my fully painted marines!!!! ;) http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z179/detted/DSCF0004_zpsd9b02ce1.jpg ;) I used them in an apocalypse battle and although the razorback got sucked in the warp, the others made it to the end of the game even nearly suceeding in a last assault to grab and objective...yeah! The libby was run as a super libby with mastery2, digi weapon and asupex and even armour indomitus...same cost as the mantis warrior special libby...dunno, maybe next time I'll try him instead...slightly simpler setup, pretty useless (to me) warlord trait but +1 W and I...mah, we'll see!! :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213771-deep-in-tau-territory-a-mod-log-2210-bolter-drones/page/6/#findComment-3773719 Share on other sites
