Mr. Danvers
Firstly, apologies to anyone who's already had this idea before me. I just twigged this myself when rummaging in my box of wolf bits a few minutes ago and thought I'd share it with my fellow Wolf-brothers. I wanted to add Wolf Standard model options to my GH squads and I checked out bits prices for banner pole arms and banners and lets just say wasn't impressed. So, I had a rummage to see what I could use from my bits and came across the plastic bank banners from the pack sprue. Now, I'm not a great fan of putting these on characters, especially on my wolves so I had 4 lying around (just enough to do my GH squads :P). So, after a few minutes of pondering, it occurred to me that by drilling a hole into the base of these, gluing a metal peg into them and drilling a hole in the top of one of my GH in each squad, I'd made some cheap and effective Wolf Standards. Also, by not gluing the other end of the peg into the GH backpack, you can take them on and off at will to save WYSIWYG issues if you don't want to take the option in some games. Also, I think it's a nice nod to old 2nd edition veteran sergeants who had bolters and back banners. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/213837-cheap-wolf-standards-idea/ Share on other sites
trefenwyd
I did very similar . . . I chopped off the very bottom of the pole and glued the top onto a hand that used to hold a bolter, then glued a pole shaft to the bottom of the hand so the model looks like he's holding the standard in the middle of the pole - I actually like it a lot better than the GW standard. Growler67
The older Codices had color pages that could be printed and the banners cut out and attached to the banner poles.
