Meltabombs, and digital weapons on TDA HQs...

Yes, pretty sure you can.

The classic-counter examples are the Command Squad to Company Champion and Apothecary upgrade which cannot buy further upgrades; the *reason* they cannot take further upgrades is that their statline and model-type change (they are no longer "Veterans", they are either a Champion or Apothecary now) and all of the listed upgrades are for "Veterans". In the case of an HQ, his model-type has not changed; he's still whatever HQ he was, so I think you're okay.

HQ units that take TDA as an upgrade are still eligible to purchase digital weapons and meltabombs, yes?

Digital weapons, yes.

Meltabombs, er... umh, kind of. Strictly speaking, according to how the wargear options are presented it is possible to buy a character with a Terminator armour meltabombs. But that is most likely a mistake, as traditionally Terminators have been unable to use grenades of any kind (or pistols), and indeed the character will lose his frag and krak grenades when being equipped with Terminator armour. Technically you can do it. But to many players it is a typo, and using it would be an exploit. So you may not be making friends when you insist that the Codex lets you use meltabombs with your lightning claw Terminator Captain.

Yes, it's fine per the rules. Digital weapons have always worked with terminator armor. In old rules terminator armor forbade you from taking any grenades, but it doesn't now, so it's fine. Fluff-wise instead of saying the captain has melta bombs you could say that he has some other sort of anti-vehicle weapon.

5th edition is 5th edition, I think it's way more of an exploit to try to use old edition rules to your favor than to follow the current rules. It seems especially silly to call it an 'exploit' for someone not to refer to outdated rulebooks and their wargear limitations for the current game.

When you consider how not-awesome meltabombs are, it doesn't seem that big a deal to allow the model to take them, esp since only HQs can do it so it will be rare when it comes up. I have trouble imagining anybody getting angry about it.

If those players think its a typo then they need to wake up and read the codex- once could be a typo, but its there in C:SM, C:SW, and C:BA. Its survived FAQ, Errata, and tournament play.

Meltabombs for TDA is here, and its probly going to stick around a while.

Also, since Legatus mentioned it, there is no rule preventing the use of pistols in TDA either. In fact, the Njal in Terminator option keeps his Bolt Pistol, and thus still gets the extra attack regardless of which type of Armour you choose for him. The only thing that prevents the use of Pistols in TDA normally is the fact that no other unit options allow for the selection of a pistol, so it is a matter of availability, rather than a specific restriction within the rules.
