Epic Warlord Dread Conversion

Retrograde

Recommended Posts

@Rafen_2: Haha yeah I've always had a soft spot for the cobra organisation, most baddies actually. I've still got to attach those raptor vents to the dread, should do that soon really.

@sar mikael: I got the tank on ebay but unfortunatly the seller took the listing down not long after I bought it.

@Doghouse: Hi mate, thanks. I'm considering adding extra plating to the bottom of the command dome to bring it into the main body of the tank if you get what I mean. Need to do some experimentation there.

Alternate Neutron Laser armament. Needs a bit of work, especially the end of the barrel. I'll add something thats a bit more high calibre and dangerous looking at the end... a rawl plug maybe :)

I've made a little more progress on the sponsons. I removed half the studs so they tie in a bit better with the rest of the vehicle. I'm kinda tempted to magnetise the hotshot lascannons and add conversion beamers as a replacment option. A Neutron laser and conversion beamers would be gloriously over the top ;)

Cheers

Hi all

Thought I'd post a couple of pics of my latest bits.

MKVIII Errant Armour

I'm going all out on this one. Still got to add armour plates to his forearms, add power cables to the upper arms, modify the helmet, improve the abdominal section and decide whether to keep the speaker/vox plate on his gorget. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Conversion Beamer

I made this today and I'm pretty happy with the result. I'll probably end up using it on a pre-heresy terminator.

Cheers B)

@NightGount: Hi mate, high praise indeed :) thanks a lot. Updating the classics is proper satisfying. I've got a whole heap more to do as well.

The studs are actually hornby railway fruit. I was looking around a model store and they were the only thing there that fit the bill.

I've since discovered it wasn't such a good idea to use them. They're made from sugar and when I undercoated the dread they melted!

A better idea is to get a britta water filter cartridge, saw it open and use the little hard foam balls inside. Hardening them with a dab of superglue is an option (Something I should've done on the fruit B) )

Cheers

The conversions look fantastic Retrograde, especially the MK8. I would suggest turning the left hand over on the conversion beamer marine and adding a handle so it looks like he is actually supporting the weight of the gun. I think it looks a little awkward as it is now. The Storm Tank is amazing as well, get some paint on it soon!

@Mikhail: Thanks a lot Mikhail. The MK8's pose and loadout aren't final yet, just tacked the conversion beamer on for the pic. Like I said I'll probably end up using it on a pre-heresy terminator some day.

I recieved another heavy conversion beamer from space crusade operation dreadnought through the post today. Now I have a pair I can think about how to mount them on the stormtank.

The Storm Tank did turn out quite nice, man. Good job on that...and damn you, cuz now I'd like one, lol.

As for the Mk. VIII warplate, it does look quite nice, but the Thighs seem a touch...thin, or skinny. Maybe consider thickening them out a touch?

Good to see you back, bro. Keep up the wonderful work!
