Green Stuff/Alternatives, and the best places to buy them

Recommended Posts

So... in my interest to cut costs and yet still continue to add to my Black Templars... I am looking into attempting to learn/teach myself how to use GS/modelling putty. I am looking for recommendations for what to buy (GS/Milliput/whatever other brands) and pros/cons of the various options, as well as recommendations as to where to buy, particularly within the US (east coast, VA, since I'd prefer to pick it up in person rather than have to wait (and pay) for shipping).

I am looking for cost-effective/bulk options where available, since I expect to waste a good bit in my learning adventures

If there is an article/post discussing these things already, forgive me, for my search-fu was too weak to divine its location.

Thanks for any help/advice/linkage =D

Well, I attempted some GS work last night... and got a decent cape shape for my Emperor's Champion. Unfortunately, I let it dry too much before I attempted working in the details, and the stuff was too elastic and resisting any changes I attempted to make. I still have two strips of the stuff I paid $10 for at the GW shop, but I'd like to be able to buy more, and preferably away from ebay if I can help it, lol.

hey mate check out this link:

I used this method for casting up a couple of apothecary arms and it worked really well. Very easy to make, just remember to use oil as a release agent.

Hey, thanks for the link. Took a link, and I will definitely be looking at making use of some of that info there =D Now I just need to wait for my wife to give me the OK to spend the money on the GS -.-

lol

What you are searching for is Kneadatite from Polymeric Systems. They are the actual manufacturer of "Green Stuff". So do a google search for them and you'll find a great many places that carry it worldwide. I recommend the tube as it's easier to keep fresh and you don't have to throw away the bit in the middle where the two strips meet.
