Possible 50's sci-fi style drop pod

So, I was at one of my local craft stores searching for terrain building materials when I ran across this in the bird house section:

My immediate thought was some sort of old school style drop pod, and as it turns out, it's roughly the right size.

 

I bought one($6.00 American), and am still working on exactly what my design plan will be.

 

What would you're response be if a player put this guy down on the tabletop painted up for a marine chapter? Silly, awesome, or awesomely silly?

I'd let someone use it for a fun game but they'd have to give there guys retro las pistols and huge glass bubble helmets.

I'm actually not sure how to pull off the glass bubble helms, but it was under consideration. I figured for weapons I'd just get a bunch of rogue trader era stuff from FW.

You know, the first thing I thought when I saw that was, ' Oh My God! It's the rocket from Wallace and Gromit!'

 

But, a 50's Pod would look awesome too :D
