Bat33.1
Just wondering if there are any refrences to Space Wolves using chain axes as everything I've seen so far only mentions chainswords? I was considering adding some chain axes in a new build... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214003-chain-axes-for-wolves/ Share on other sites

Grimtooth
Considering that almost all the fluff regarding Fenrisians, it is all about the axes so go for it. I personally am using two chain axes with shortened shafts on on of my MoW models. Rune_Priest_Rhapsody
I recently traded for three of the things for using with special models. I like the idea of using them for the MOtW models, good idea Brother Ramses!! -R_P_R Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214003-chain-axes-for-wolves/#findComment-2546949 Share on other sites
Sarapham
I use chain-axes on all my "claw"-types, both because it is always hardcore with an axe and also because in Viking times axes were more common than swords... so I use sword for the higher tiered units. Bat33.1
Only trouble with the FW chainaxes they are quite fragile I've used them in the past and they do look the part but they are difficult to to keep in one piece Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214003-chain-axes-for-wolves/#findComment-2547030 Share on other sites
Prot
Only trouble with the FW chainaxes they are quite fragile I've used them in the past and they do look the part but they are difficult to to keep in one piece Agreed. I had lots and they're tough to drill into the fists of plastic arms (they come as a separate weapon, no arms), and they are extremely brittle. The tiniest bend could make them snap. Orphus
Chainaxes are great, i'm considering one for my Wolf Priest as a 'counts-as' Crozius because I think it would look cooler (and would fit with his fluff). I'm not so sure about the forgeworld stuff if it's as brittle as you say. Is there a bitz pack with Chainaxes or will i have to resort to buying some Bezerkers? Blarmb
Besides the entry for most SW units just reads "Close Combat Weapon" which could be just about anything, so long as it's suitably pointy, slashy and/or bashy. Considering the whole Individuality theme SWs going, I don't really think you need precedence in the fluff for a particular weapon. After all who is say to any given Wolf isn't just fond of whatever odd weapon he decides to use? Potenially you could have a wolf that on same planet picked up and decided he liked a pair of nunchucks or possibly chain-chucks (granted both of these might feel a bit out of place in 40k, and chain-chucks are particularly silly). I've been considering remolding each of my backs such that they have different preffered weapons. One pack uses Chainswords, another uses Spears, another might use chainaxes, while one just uses combat knives. Etc... There really isn't any reason to limit yourself. I was considering adding some chain axes in a new build... yeah in the Space Wolf codex, pg 18. there is a picture, battle against the Tau.. and you see a Space Wolf with a chain axe. Also its in the Frost blade or Axe description on pg 57. Also a picture of a chainsword like Frost blade in pg 59 called kraken tooh pattern. Stormshrug
Don't stop at axes, I say. Bat33.1
Thanks for the replies ;) To paraphrase 'hell yes' anything goes...
