WarbossBigBadJim
Evening brothers, just wanted to share a quickie bat rep, as I'm quite pleased how my wolves performed this time round. My list; Wolf Priest w/ 15x Blood Claws in a Land Raider Crusader 10x Grey Hunters in a Rhino 5x Long Fangs (Lascannonx2, Plasma Cannonx2, WG in TDA w/ Assault Cannon) Lone Wolf (TDA, Twin Claws, Meltabombs) Lone Wolf (TDA, TH/SS) 3x TDA WG (2xWC, 1xPF) 10x SkyClaws Blood Angels; Major Chaplain, JP, w/ 10 Assault Marines Minor Chaplain, JP, w/ 10 Assault Marines Tactical Squad (2x 5-man) Land Raider Vindicator 2x Baal Preds Seize Ground, Table Quarters. Blood Angels got first turn, and set up with one combat squad on their objective, the other in the LR, his scouting baals out front and vindicator in front of the JP squads. I keep all squads in their transports, Long Fangs on my objective. Turn One The baals flame the wolf guard / lone wolves and rhino but fail to damage. Vindicator and LR take pot shots and down a long fang. I run my lone wolves forward, rhino moves into cover, and while the LRC, guard and Long Fangs manage to wreck one baal and stun the other. Turn Two The LR immobilizes the rhino, but fail to do much else. Unfortunately for him, his vindicator is now in charge range of the TH/SS lone wolf, who wrecks it. Long fangs immobilize the last baal. Turn Three LR wounds the lone wolf running towards it, and major assault squad drops the other. In my turn, the twin claw LW meltabombs the landraider into scrap, the crusader unloads their blood claws into the major assault squad, dropping 8 for a loss of 5. Turn Four Minor assault squad joins the big combat, leaving the priest and two blood claws for a loss of 5 marines and the major chaplain. The now-scrap landraider's occupants take down the last lone wolf. In my turn the long fangs finally wreck the baal, allow the grey hunters to unload and run back to the home objective. Sky Claws deep strike in, and with the crusader kill 4 tactical marines off their home objective, leaving one to hold it. Blood Claws and Wolf Priest go down, leaving the minor chaplain and around 5 assault marines left. Turn Five Hoping to scrape a win, the lone marine on the BA objective aims at the skyclaws, whilst the last combat squad charges in. Combined fire/assault wipes out the skyclaws, but leaves only the chaplain standing. The other tactical marines, the only other blood angels on the board, shoot at the wolf guard but fail to penetate the terminator armour. In my turn, the wolf guard assault the ex-LR combat squad, wiping them out, while grey hunters run towards my objective, but end up 5" away..... The crusader manages to drop the last marine on the BA objective, leaving a single chaplain. We're currently drawing.... we roll for turn six. 1-2 = draw.... and I get a 4! With a cheer, the GH move to the home objective. We didn't play the final turn, but with the LRC, wolf guard, long fangs, rhino and grey hunters versus one last chaplain, we dubbed space wolves mightiest of the marines! Now for the advice bit. I most often play my brother in law, but I almost always win... its beginning to get a little depressing for him, and I try my best to be help him along but it just seems that no matter what he does I keep beating him. He keeps tweaking lists, trying new tactics, whereas I run the same list and more or less the same way... nothing seems to work! So.... do any of you have any advice for beating my list? Any blood angels players, feel free to chip in here too. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214005-1500pt-wolves-vs-vampires-bat-rep/ Share on other sites

the jeske
dude when you give advice to someone who may quit at least give good ones. A . he should not mix jump infantry and no jump infantry in same list . in fact the more jump infantry he goes with BA the weaker [am not saying bad , just saying weaker as in harder to play and easier to lose] the BAs become. B where are his priests. where is his mefiston or failing that where is his libby[but realy mefo should be like in every BA list that is not a full jump list] . C.If vindicators then 2-3 not one . I know BAs are better they can move and shot unlike the normal vindis , but it still doesnt change the fact that they are low on armor. D . I can understand a champlain If someone plays ,I dont know 2250 pts ,then an elite one aint bad. but 2 ? why . doesnt make sense at all. E . LR... why? if he wants a LR rush army then take 2-3 [depands how many points are played] , but not 1 and not an empty one. I mean If he would by it for a RAS to get It cheaper , I could understand it[would still be bad. but I understand that sometimes people play games with more points then they usualy do] . a crusader aint bad[and could fit a priest and lets say a chapy there or better yet a libby] , but a normal LR for a tac ?? makes no sense at all . IF he wants anti tank there is cheaper ways to do it[MM attack bikes, even drop dreads or suicide sternguard or venguard units] . A rhino blocks los for a lot fewer points . etc etc. F. flame baals . some people like them others dont . but they are not LF , you cant just stick them in to an army and think they will play themselfs . If he wants to use them he needs units that will disembark transported units [like MM bikes] other wise he will have problems with mecha lists. E. I know it is too late. but sometimes before buying and painting models ,it is good to test stuff or if that cant be done at least check the forum for what works and what doesnt and not pick units because you like the looks [and get your ass handed to you after that because the "nice" models dont work]. Khavos
dude when you give advice to someone who may quit at least give good ones. A . he should not mix jump infantry and no jump infantry in same list . in fact the more jump infantry he goes with BA the weaker [am not saying bad , just saying weaker as in harder to play and easier to lose] the BAs become. Yeah...I disagree with that, as there are some pretty hard DoA lists out there. That said, the BA list in question is, indeed, not exactly optimized. He's taking advantage of basically none of the BA strengths. He needs Sanguinary Priests, he probably needs at least one Librarian, and I suspect his Tacticals are doing absolutely nothing for him, especially without transport. I wouldn't run Mephiston at 1500 points, and I definitely, definitely, DEFINITELY wouldn't run an empty Land Raider. That LR's doing nothing for him but sucking up points, same as the Tacticals and the Reclusiarch/Chaplain combo. Mullinstron
Yeah im not sure what hes running in that LR as well but that needs to go if it is not caring troops. OK tell him to try this put 5 TH/SS termies in that LR and see how it goes. Even better make it a LRR and put a Libby with a SS and the power that gives them Preferred enemy. Drop the Chaplains. Take a priest. Run the jump guys behind the LR for cover. Personally I would Take 1 Baal and 2 Vindis. and you got yourself a nasty list. Oh and Drop that tactical squad !!!! This should be around the 1500 point mark. You might have to wiggle around a bit to make it fit but you can take 2 jump squads, a LRR 5 TH/SS termies, A libby (pr a chappy in TDA) 1 Baal and 2 Vindis for sure and that is a lot more hate than he has. ~m :P Oh and you can prob add a 5 man scout squad for objectives in there as well ! Valerian
Is your brother-in-law a member of the BnC? If so, have him go check out the Blood Angels subforum, and start running list ideas through there. Morticon, JamesI, and the others will help him out as best as they can. WarbossBigBadJim
Thanks for all the advice fellas. I'll definitely try and get him on BnC so other sons of sanguinius can give him some pointers! Thunderhawk3015
Ditch the 2 5man squads and make it a 10 man in the Land Raider. Also, sanguinary priests are very very good against marines with the FNP and Furious Charge they give to everyone within 6 inches, throw a jump pack on and put one in each assault squad.
