Blackmane
Hi there... I've been painting SW since 3rd edition codex, and I'm getting used to totem-freehand and stuff sculpting fur/braids. What I need you guys to teach me are techniques to make the armours look ancient and weathered but not as such battle damaged. Hemal
Depends on what you mean by weathered - weathered armour won't be as crisp and clean, it will have striations, chips, scratches (not all scratches are battle damage..) and other damage elements. Dpeending on how dark your base armour is, I would use that as the starting point for chips and scratches, shade using a deeper shade and highlight with a mid-tine (old and worn) or a lighter highlight (nwe damage) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214073-painting-sws/#findComment-2548324 Share on other sites
Durus
Take a look at these Storm Gosts. The stripey highlighting makes them look a bit more used without adding battledamage. You could also add some oil/dirt stains or something like that. Something similar to what the the cleaved have, maybe not as extreme.
