Wysten
Problem with skyclaws is they cost more and there are less of them and, at least for me, the true strength of the blood claws is their numbers so they can absorb more fire once they are exposed. I'm not saying there are not better ways, I am trying to provide an argument as to how/why blood claws with a powerfist and a couple characters can make using power fists a viable tactic. Thunder Wolves are cheaper, but as a personal preference I tend to not use them as they are looked on as a bit of a crutch for games at my local game store unless there is a tournament coming up and everyone is testing out ideas. They only cost 3 points more for each guy for essecally double the mobilty. They can move 12 inches constantly for the cost of essencally 2 blood claws in total. Greater movement means being in range for a charge more often, and it means less guys will die to gunfire, or that they draw the attention so much that all the fire gets drawn towards them. The only reason not to take them is that fast attack slots are highly compeated for more then any other slot, Land Speeders, Swift Claws and Thunder Wolf Competing for the same slot. All units of merit that every army needs to consider to add mobity to lists. So for a counter assualt unit, Skyclaws and Thunder Wolf are ideal, while swiftclaws are mainly supportive and Land Speeders are largely offensive units. Also Sky Claws are not more expensive when you have buy a transport for the normal blood claws. Godhead
The fact that you can't include a packleader with skyclaws sucks. Needing an IC to lead them or being forced to let them run rampant like unsupervised teenagers makes them a less competitive FA slot than any thing else for me. Had they saw fit to let us give them pack leaders, I'd never leave home without a pack of skyclaws. Gman
I found a pack with Lukas and a powerfist to be very effective. Lukas does a good job cleaning out some enemy models on his own, the powerfist does god against vehicles, MC and IC. That's the entirety of the squad, keeping them basic and cheap. They can pretty much be used to tie up anything and still make up their points, if only in denying them good ground. I wish Lukas could be a skyclaw premotion, or able to exist in Swiftclaws, Skyclaws and Blood Claws, hardly the most efficent use of points, but by heavens I would have fun having a small squad with him around to act as the Pack Leader.(Well, sure he's a tricksta, but I imagine the recuits would want to follow whatever plan he came up with anyways.)
