Pirog
Hi! I've been collecting a couple of models for my newly started Blood Angels army. Currently I have like 500p 100% with bases etc. And that's what I've been playing with. I am a big fan of tactical squads, so instead of going all jumpy as alot of BA playes appears to be, I will include tacticals. Also, this is my first games in two years and also, my first games in 5th, ever. I did three matches. 2 matches against IG and one match me and the IG player joined our 500p forces against 1000p of Daemons. I will try to do a quick battle report on each match for you, I can't remember the rounds exactly so I just write it all down from beginning to end. Some notes: This was the first time playing 5th for both of us. At least the first match, he had alot of bad dices and I had all the good ones, alot of luck. Matches were of three objectives, one in each deploy, one in the middle. My list: HQ Librarian with rage, sword and stormbolter (had points left) Troops Tactical Squad 10, Flamer, Missile Launcher, Chain+pistol, Meltabombs Assault Squad 5, Meltagun, Meltabombs Heavy Dreadnought, Multimelta, Stormbolter, Bloodfist IG player (kind of): HQ Command Squad 5 Troops Veteran Squad 10, assault cannon Veteran Squad 10, assault cannon Veteran Squad 10, plasmax3, Chimera with heavy bolter, laser Heavy Armored Sentinel, laser Armored Sentinel, laser First Match: Night fight applied to the first round, IG had first go on choosing side, deploy and starting the first round. Resulting in him slowly moving one of the veteransquads, the chimera with the plas-vets and the sentinels up slowly towards the middle of the objective. Sentinels and chimera on my right hand side and veterans through an alley in the middle of the board. No one was able to shoot at me. I had my tacticals split up in combat squads with one squad carrying the ML hunkered up behind some barricades at my objective. I moved up the other combat squad with the librarian joined in around a house, towards the middle. The dreadnought carrying himself forward on the right side of the table in cover of a large ruin. The assaulters jumped up quickly through an alley towards the middle objective. I was able to fire a missle at the stationary veteran squad on my left side of the table, killing like one or two people. The rest of my army ran in the shooting face to cover as much ground as possible, all of them completely covered behind houses or ruins. His next turn and he moves up the chimera just a few inches away from the middle objective and unloading his veterans, wanting to sieze it, also forgetting how long my assaulters were able to move, which proved to be a big mistake later on. Both the sentinels were in close protection of the chimera and plas-vets and the command squad joining in further back. He took a couple of shots but weren't able to do me any harm. I moved my assaulters up in close range of the unloading plas-vets, right on the middle objective. The dread rounding the ruin he was behind, getting in range of both the chimera and sentinels. Combat squad with librarian were keeping the pace up, rounding the ruins to get in view of the middle objective. ML-squad fired off another rocket, killing two of the still stationary vet-squad. Dread fired off his weapons, totally exploding one sentinel with his multimelta. The explosion killed off two of the plas-vets close to him. The assaulters fired their guns into the plasvets and charging. The battle ending with one plasma gunner able to flee, ending up behind the chimera. Assaulters consolidated closer into the gap that was now surrounded by one chimera, one sentinel, and (until now) the silent, unhurt and stationary vet-squad in his objective and the command squad. Maybe not the smartest consolidation move I could have made as I was able to actually hide the assaulters from everything but the chimera and the lone plasma gunner behind a large building. But I really wanted to get in there. Next round he moved his vet-squad that had taken a few casualties by my ML away from it's line of sight, wanting to get closer to the middle where i had just now whiped out 9 out of 10 vets in his plasma squad, which was kind of his ace-squad against me. Can't really remember the whole fight taking place now except that my assaulters where whiped out, the last one kind of dying from the absolutely last bullet. Also, they got all the fire on them except one laser from the sentinel and chimera each, which targeted the dread, not even glancing his mighty armor. I came into contact with my libby-squad whith the hurt vet-squad and killed them off with rapid fire. My dread shot at the chimera, this one also exploding, not killing anyone though, not even the last plasma gunner who later died in the last round from my dreads storm bolter - hard bastard. When the match ended I had lost five assaulters and had my dread immobilized. But I held two objectives. He held one objective and had only one full vet squad and like two in his command squad left. Second Match: I remember this one even worse than the first match, sorry. I got the side most favourable for me this time (didn' in the first one). Night Fighting and IG was going first. He deployed like before. An assaultcannon vet-squad on his objective. Plasma-vets in chimera and the others spread out over his side of the table. Chimera and one sentinel on my far left side (his objective side), aiming down a real tight alleyway going all the way through the board. One sentinel, the command squad and an AC vet-squad going down the broad road kind of running through the middle of the board, holding the middle objective in a bunch of craters. I deployed my ML-squad in a perfect building, five floors high, having a good view over almost the whole board and holding my objective. This, on the far left side of mine. Dread deployed in the middle of my zone, behind a large building. Libby-flamer-squad far to the right, aming to go around the flank of his main forces, behind a few ruins. Assaulters to the far left, aiming down the same alley as his chimera and sentinel. He had the first round, moving down like all of his forces, even the vet-squad that I thought would hold his objective. I guess he wanted to try to totall out-shoot me early in the game and then claim his objective again. He tried to shoot but couldn't see me thanks to night fight. I moved the libby-squad up the right side of the table, behind the ruins, having like 75% of his army on the other side of the ruins. I was aiming for this small gap between the ruins, just next to one of his AC vet-squads, I wanted to fry them and slice them open. Dread moved towards the left, where the assaulters were, stopping before another small alley just next to the long one with the assaulters, chimera and sentinel in. This alley, instead having a line of sight towards his last and lone AC-vet squad. Assaulters moved up the long, small alley right towards the chimera. Unfortunately I forgot to shoot their melta gund and charged into close combat with the melta bombs, mostly for the fun of it, wanting try it out. The assaulters failed and was later tank shocked and killed by the unloading plasma-vets and the sentinel. The ML though, fired a lucky shot through the night, wrecking the closest sentinel. After he killed my assaulters I felt like "ops, I'm dead". As they did nothing except dying. Anyway, he moved the empy chimera further down the alley towards my deploy, again appearenyl underestimating the range my close-by dread could cover with 6" and 6" charge. He seemed to have a plan though, as he got in a hit with the AC in view, destroying the dread melta. He kept both vet-squads stationary, one of them focusing alittle on my ML on top of the building, the other one just shot my dreads melta through the alley. He fired off a few AC shots towards the ML-squad killing one. His last sentinel, moved in on the road, towards the objective. He now had both the plasma-vets and the sentinel in range of the middle objective, hos both AC-squads in view of it and his command squad on it's way. His chimera, appearantly wanting to flank my lone dread. My turn though. And my dread went around the corner towards the chimera and, in the assault phase, charging, wrecking it and consolidating 6" back, almost all the way to his original position in the beginning of the round, his aim down the middle alley towards the objective. My libby squad moved up, being able to shoot and charge the closest AC-squad in the next round. The ML fired and missed everything. What happend next, to sum it up. Was that I flamed and sliced his one AC-squad with my libby squad and also, hunting after his command squad, later killing that one too. He had his last AC-squad and the plasma-vets in the middle around the objective, with the sentinel tightly in between them, blocking the way for my dread. This is where then fun happened. The dread charged the sentinel with it's blood fist, making it explode the full possible area, 6" around. Killing a total of like 9 soldiers from the the two squads nearby. I cleaned up the mess with killing the last few AC-units with the ML and the plasma-vets in close combat with the libby-squad. Total annihilation. By the end of the match I had two out of three objectives and the libby with two marines, dread with destroyed melta and ML-squad with a total of four marines left. A good match and even though maybe the report doesn't show it, I appeared to be in a real bad position when he had killed off my assaulters without loosing a single man. The third match I will just sum up real quick. We met daemons. Real nasty bastards. This time around though, the IG player had alot of luck with his dices where the daemon player did not. IG lost only one AC-squad, while I lost my assaulters, three marines, the libby and had my dread immobilized. At the end of the game we had two out of three objectives. The daemon player had none and also only a single daemon prince still alive. I also tried to deep strike the assaulters for the first time here. Was a nice experience. DoA is real good. Still though, I will need some tactical experience with that one on where to deep strike them and not risk them too much. I didn't now though, as he had nothing that could shoot me at the time, they were kiled later in close combat. But anyway. Notes and lessons: - My libby would probably do better if I was able to get the points in to put a jump pack on him (or trade one spell for the wings) and keep him with the assaulters. Or maybe even taking a whole other HQ, but I don't think so. Anyway, he did absolutely nothing except killing of some spare soldiers with his stormbolter. This was a fact through all three matches, never did he get a chance to actually use anything in a good way. Had the rage in a close combat in match #2 but that's all. - The dread was an ace through all three matches even though totally unupgraded. Though my mate playing IG had totally forgotten to put in any meltas etc, so he tried to kill the dread with only assaultcannons, lasers and plasmas, having a hard time trying.Rhi - Assaulters are good, but it's hard to really get in there against IG as I will almost need him to do a mistake like the unloading of the vets in range of them, for them to actually do harm. Against like 30 lasgun shots and possibly a few heavy weapons, five assaulters have a hard time jumping. - Tacticals are ace. I totally love them. The stationary ML-squad keeping a good look out over the map, and holding my objective so I wont have to care about that one. Also, the moving combat squad with the libby, even though not doing any huge moves, are a good moving all-rounder, with the flamer against soldiers and melta bombs in case they have to take some armor on, even though I have assaulters, dreads and a ML for that. The stationary combat squad with the ML will be traded out for a dev squad with four of them instead. Keeping this tactical squad either in a large squad or in two combat squads with maybe one of them melee-or-horde-focused with the flamer, and the other alittle more armor-focused with a melta. Now I'm thinking of how to upgrade my list to 750p. I'll put another assault squad in atleast. Maybe some armor in the form of a couple of razorbacks or a pred if I have the points for it. Or skip the armor and put even more units in? Dunno. Armor I think. I lack armor.
