Beef
For me it was the original ragnar and Ulrick models from 2nd edition. At the time they were the most stunning SM I had seen Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214272-what-makes-us-play-wolves/page/5/#findComment-2577048 Share on other sites
Loki-LaughingDeath
One thing. Russ would be talking to Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines. Calgar is the current Chapter Master. Yeah that's the point I was trying to make, neither one of them are very relevant to us soooo it's yeah sure whatever, oh what did you say your name was? Chapter Master Ignis Domus
Know thine enemy... err, friend. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Hmmm... I think I've confused myself suitably now. Wolf Lord Hallbjorn
For me, it started years ago and went something like this: Friend: Hey, there's this cool tabletop game called Warhammer 40,000. (insert basic explanation of 40K here) Me: That sounds cool. What kinds of armies are there? Friend: All kinds. Aliens, robots, humans, super-humans, etc. Me: Robots, eh? Sounds kinda cool. Like an army of terminators (movie) or something? Friend: Not exactly, but close enough. Me: So, these marine guys...Are there different types? Friend: Yeah. There's this one army called Space Wolves. They're kinda feral and they're almost like space-vikings. They howl and wear wolf pelts and stuff. Me: *jaw drops and drool hits the floor*.......sold. I was nearly going to buy a necron army until the magic words were spoken. Brother Captain Kezef
I think allot of marine players will hate me for saying this, but for me the Wolves are the only marines with real character. The other Chapters are variations on the theme of a religous bunch of warrior monks/spartans. See the enemy, kill the enemy, pray, wait for an enemy. The Wolves have depth, character, passion. They get drunk, they gamble, they play and they LIVE. Hell in the deathwatch RPG the Wolves get a fellowship bonus and have skills like carouse on their list. Playing Wolves is genuinely fun and rewarding, you laugh, you cry, you build sagas and imagine your wolves going home, getting drunk and betting on the inevitable blood claw brawl in the mead hall.
