winterdyne
Sicarius got done today (well, I airbrushed him yesterday). This is to 'tabletop' level (ie not competition standard): http://www.winterdyne.co.uk/maz/images/commissions/ultramarines2/sicarius_done1.jpg
smallvictory
One man's "Tabletop level" is another's centerpiece. Very well done as is all of your stuff, I especially like the light dust effect seen on the cloak in the top right picture, nice touch.
Dr_Boomstick
Geez, that is really good for tabletop level! How do you make it competition-worthy? Kill a young virgin and shade it in her blood?
winterdyne
Uhm, for competitions I usually do tighter, cleaner freehand work, richer blending and pay a *lot* more attention to the model - lots of checking time, and allocated time to go back and fix the things that occasionally creep through. There are a few blemishes here I'd get rid of if I were allocating a lot more time and/or being perfectionist- there's a patch of miscast surface at the bottom left of the back of the banner that should have been filled, and just above that and in slightly is a blemish where I removed a vent 'thread' and apparently neglected to sand it down properly. As this wasn't allocated that much work time, and the flaws aren't particularly noticeable IMO this is done.
Isiah
winterdyne your models are always a feast for the eyes... and this is "tabletop standard" eh? Cheers I
winterdyne
Yeah. For a competition Siccy I'd probably scratch the armour up some and crack the U's. Probably do a better job on the NMM on the banner and some nicer/neater freehand.
Brother Valerius
This is an epic paint job, and is everything I hoped for when you said you'd be doing this. Actually, I like it more than your recent "competition standard" work.
Peck
I never really cared for this model before, but your rendition has brought me to see its appeal. Amazing work.
Zincite
As always, brilliant. I actually prefer your 'table top standard' to your 'competition standard'. But then I've always found a model that is painted very well, but doesn't have as much detail (eg scrollwork, litanies of hate/iron/etc) is always easier to look at... not that your competition models aren't some of the best models I've ever seen! Have you found a replacement for the Ghoul Gray yet? ;)
