Bergtorp
I've been working on my own special Skyclaws with Valkyries in mind. Not entirely finished, have to do the bases. What do you think? My entire squad of Skyclaws. Sorry for the light. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0885.jpg "Ordinary" Skyclaw. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0886.jpg Jump pack and wings. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0887.jpg "Ordinary" Skyclaw. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0888.jpg Right shoulder pad. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0889.jpg Packleader. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0890.jpg Packleader. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0891.jpg Packleader. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0892.jpg "Ordinary" Skyclaw. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0893.jpg "Ordinary" Skyclaw. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0894.jpg Mark of the Wulfen. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0896.jpg Mark of the Wulfen. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i202/Bergtorp/DSC_0897.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214533-sw-valkyries/ Share on other sites
Darkseer
Russ wouldn't approve... Space Wolves are meant to fight with both feet on the ground. Nice take on an idea from a viking legend though :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214533-sw-valkyries/#findComment-2554212 Share on other sites

Bergtorp
If they are called Valkyries it becomes a little more of a dishonor bearing that name. And Skyclaws do fight on foot, they just jump really far to get there... dswanick
Wings on wolves?!? What kind of namby-pamby, emo/twighlight, mutant, chaos scum are you?!? Shouldn't you take them back to the +Blood Angels+ thread? :tu: Very nice conversion work, though. You've got some nice details in there, and the brush-work is spot on. A few of the super closeups show a some flaws, but those will be easily corrected in the final detailing job, then these should be competition ready. Congratzs. Bergtorp
They get inspiration from ravens and Valkyries. Then they can have wings. Valerian
They get inspiration from ravens and Valkyries. Then they can have wings. Thanks for all the other. ^^ They look great, and I appreciate the incorporation of the "raven's wings". My question is how do you distinguish weapons? Do all of them have the same weapons? It looks good as is, but to be effective in a list you'd want a Power Weapon or Power Fist in that unit. Any thoughts on adding a Special Weapon? You could use the Blood Angel versions of either the Melta Pistol or Flamer Pistol to replicate the Melta Gun or Flamer. I, for one, am damned glad to see that your "Valkyries" are not women Marines, and are more or less regular old Sky Claws. Also, for those that have forgotten, the attitude of the Space Wolves not to use Jump Packs was added to the 3rd Edition Codex simply as a method to "tone down" the power of the codex at that time. Prior to 2000, there was never any fluff to support a reluctance to use any Imperial technology. Here is the quote directly from Jervis Johnson, explaining why he made the change in the *new* codex at the time: From US White Dwarf 244 (May 2000): The last thing that serves to keep the Space Wolves in check is a reluctance to use some forms of modern technology. In game terms this is represented by not allowing Space Wolves Terminators to teleport into battle, and limiting the use of Jump Packs to Blood Claws packs. In both cases, the Space Wolves' reluctance to use the technology available to them is a perverse desire to fight 'properly' in the way that "Russ intended". I should point out that just because they have a reluctance to teleport or use jump packs it does not mean that they never do such things, just that they generally refuse to do so. So, if you are playing a campaign or are devising your own scenario feel free to override these special rules, but in other circumstances they must be used. Requiem of the Wolf
Beautiful conversion work...quick question...where did you get the spears from? I have been looking for a good sized spear to use as my Wolf lords Frost Blade while on his TWC...I just haven't found a decent spear yet. As for how you did,I like the idea personally...I might see about making raven skull style open faced helms for them if you were to make more....but other then that awesome job mate. Bergtorp
I made those spears. Using plastic rod, a pair frostaxes from SW pack and a sword from DA pack. Cut up, drill, glue together and do your best to get it straight. Did a spear for a terminator and used the shaft for a thunder hammer and used plastic rod and the DA plastic terminator sword. A great deal of the lore about Wolf Priests resembles Valkyries. Slyfox1990
I imagine someone has mentioned this already but technically in Norse mythology Valkyries would have been female :D But that is irrelevant - its a nice idea to go for and they look good :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214533-sw-valkyries/#findComment-2557190 Share on other sites
fivepointedstar
I imagine someone has mentioned this already but technically in Norse mythology Valkyries would have been female :D But that is irrelevant - its a nice idea to go for and they look good :D He could have said Warriors of the Aesir to be PC friendly but the term Valkyre seems way cooler to say. And the Norse represented Females in that chosen-path because they could not go to war like norse-men could. But .. staying true to the old gods the 'Chooser of The Slain' could very much be males that Odin deams worth to pick worthy warriors. Both male, and females could choose warrior worthy to get the ride to Vahalla. I do agree that the whole raven wings for dramatic purposes should be willing to silent anyone calling them "EMO bloody pups".
