Nice one, Ecritter. ^_^

Recon0321, do whatever you want if it's DIY! If you're looking at dark colors, well, anything except yellow and orange (and white, I guess :P) work well in darker shades. If you're looking to tie them in with a bright yellow Imperial Fists army--well, I imagine you didn't just use yellow on those Fists, did you? You almost certainly used at least two different colors, try using one of those. As for metallic, a dark metallic color can look rather impressive, although it would either be just metal (not silver) or bronze (rather than gold) unless you want to try non-metallic metals.

Whatever you do, don't use Black and Red. Some people recommend against it, and I like to maintain a sort of monopoly on the combination these days... Only joking.

Glad to hear you chose to make a DIY Chapter, I think I remember you from the "Call to Arms!" thread (whatever happened to that anyway?)

Ecritter proposed a nice scheme, though I would perhaps use slightly different colors, maybe replace all the white with bone like on the chest eagle.

It doesn't show very well, but the trim on the shoulders is actually silver. :D

Oh...I had figured that you had posted the Ultramarines as a joke...oops....

I mean, even if it were the Ultramarines color scheme, it would still be a pretty good foil to the Imperial Fists' scheme.

I liked the BT upgrade sprue also. So I did a DIY army using black armor, but green talbards. I still get grief from it but its my mini's and ill do what i like.

The good thing RECON0321 is that you're proposing to do a Dorn's sons type army there are tons of possiblities to choice from. Yes there are Imperial Fists, and BT, but since those two have such a proud history you can add in to there glory by making an addition to there sussesor line. All you would have to do is find a color you'd like to paint between 20-100 times over, and have some passion put into it, and you'r set then. have fun remember posting pictures is the final step.
