IA: Purifiers/IT: Planet!

So, after nearly hijacking multiple threads, it seemed like a good idea to create a new thread. C.M.I.D., and myself have had this fun back and forth over a new Chapter name, and it is with great pleasure that I introduce the thread for the Loyalist Purifiers, and their eternal nemesis, the Planet Raters . All thoughts and ideas between anyone interested will go here.

 

Basic Theme:

1. The IA will be written from a dual perspective, incorporating the IA of the Purifiers and the IT of the Planet Rafters.
   
2. Purifiers are the good guys, Planet Rafterss the bad. Everything possible should be done to make this dinstinction.
   
3. This is dual purpose IA, both fun and interesting. Meant as a bit of joke, but if possible, I'd like to try and make this work.
   
4. Any and all thoughts and plot ideas will be considered before being dismissed. Unless you suggest corrupt Grey Knights or Female Marines... Then you will slapped. Or have your planet R***d...
   

 

That aside, let's see what everyone comes up with, and let's have fun with this :tu:

Well, like I said elsewhere, I'll be glad to help. This has good potential to be a good IA, an original one.

 

So, how would the dual perspective thing work? would we have a segment written by the Purifiers, with some some sort of rebuttal or entry by the Planet R****s negating or contradicting it, and vice-versa?

I was thinking more like it would be written for the perspective of the Purifiers, interspaced with Inquisitorial reports, intercepted Vox Communications, some historical texts, etc etc. The Planet R****s will be a good antagonist that continually show up and torment them.

So perhaps some of those intercepted vox transmissions could be from the Planet R****s? I really have a voice in my mind for them, and I'd love to write that out...

So Purifiers would basically be indignant goody-two shoes Chapters (not Mary-Sues, but your typical holier-than-thou Space Marines), and the Planet R****s would sort of be the obnoxious younger brother (not really, but you know) that's always playing the music really loud and breaking stuff.

To make a cohesive story, it might be a good idea to make the Planet Rapers a splinter of the Purifiers--half of the Chapter turned to Chaos, hence the continual tormenting. Otherwise, perhaps the Planet Rapers blame the Purifiers for the Imperium rejecting them. One way or another, I can't wait to see the results of this. :lol:

Yeah, all the Vox stuff would be the Planet R****s. I think they would be neither. Undivided I think, if they worship Chaos at all. They might just REALLY hate the Purifiers. The image I had for them was kind of similar to yours.

 

The Purifiers stress purity, faith, and all the Astartes things. The Planet R****s stress destruction, death, and the beating of planets. They pretty much show up randomly, wreak a whole mess of havoc for the Purifiers, then run away. For some unknown reason, they have devoted themselves pretty much entirely to harassing them, but never attacking them outright in big battles. Example A.

 

The Purifiers are dispatched to World Alpha Prima. They clean up the world, save the population, rebuild the world, and generally turn it into Macragge 2.0. Then, they leave to continue their good works. As soon as they leave, the Planet R****s show up, destroy whatever garrison they left, and then proceed to work all manner of unpleasantness on the population, eventually leaving it a desolate husk when the Purifiers return to drive them off. They repeat this again and again, as if to say, "All your good work is for nothing."

 

Basically the Purifiers are stuck in crappy situation where they can't move on and leave the worlds behind defenseless, and they can't cover everywhere. At least that was my view. GMID probably has some thoughts of his own ^_^

Yeah, we have a couple of things to sort out here. I personally like the idea of their hatred being an unknown. That could be one of the biggest things for this. No one has any idea what happened, or why the Planet R****s HATE them. But again, gonna need more input to see how everything works out. Waiting for GMID to show up :D

Well, there needs to be a LITTLE contact. No major battles, but they definitely need to skirmish from time to time. If only to establish the level of hate the Planet R****s bring around.

 

Though...not quite the Up yours Normish is discussing ^_^

I have been thinking that the Purifiers would be a space hulk-based chapter. Maybe the R****s have a homing beacon on the Space Hulk or a small band of R****s transmitting messages? Everyone please see the three threads in my sig for more detail on the Purifiers/Planet R****s.

Well, there isn't actually much detail about hem there. In fact, I learned that the Sword Angels are older than the Purifiers by at least 48 minutes. The Planet R****s came after that.

Think the general backstory behind this whole thing, not actual fluff.

 

Maybe have the Purifiers think of the hulk's random warp transitions as signs and portents from the Emperor? They could still be fighting to purify(bad half-pun intended) the hulk while fighting other evil beasties.

Octavulg, as Lexicanii and Guardian of all things Liber and IA/IT related, is the name Planet R*****s too unfriendly? ^_^ Or, as a follow up question, who would I send my Inquiry towards?

I don't think so.

 

Although, before we get all carried away, I think we should organize some things:

First, we need to decide exactly how we're going to format this and organize it. Dual-IAs aren't common, you know.

Secondly, we need to develop each of these guys on their own. Write up some fluff, some background, make some color schemes.

Thirdly, we'll pool that together, and write the combined IA.

 

That's what seems like the best course of action to me. So, any ideas as to how we're going to organize and format this thing?

 

EDIT: I'll also change the R****s thing. Perhaps we should refer to them as PRs, for ease of typing.

Honestly, at this point, the Name, while being humorous and carrying the internal joke forward isn't all that important. I really want to pursue this idea of a Loyalist Chapter being constantly dogged by Traitor Chapter with no morals or compunctions.

 

I will try and handle as much of the PRs for now, and let GMID handle the Purifiers. I would gladly turn over writing and such to whoever wants, I will just try and keep the main post up to date with all the ideas we have.

 

What we know:

1. This is basically the Purifier's IA.
   
2. The PRs will be a major force in the IA, being brought up in Vox Communications, historical events, Inquisitorial Reports, and other mediums.
   
3. The PRs hate the Purifiers for an unknown reason.
   
4. The Purifiers are being constantly hamstrung and hobbled by the PRs, who go out of their way to ruin any good works they do.
   

 

That's what we have so far, I believe. I suggest that the first thing we work on is Ironing out the details of the Purifiers. They will be the main focus, so we need to get them right. After we know the general outline of the Purifiers, we do the same for the PRs. When both of these are properly outlined to our satisfaction, we start to mesh the two into a solid IA?
