Scions of Vengeance and some Space Wolves

Hello unsuspecting.. Ahem Hello reader! This is a deep rooted goal, stretching back to the earliest days in my Warhammering history. The 2nd or 3rd White Dwarf(I believe) had a feature with a Guards player and his 18000 point army. The sight of all those tanks took my breath away and I knew I'd have to some day have a massive army of my own. Having my destiny realised as a fan of the Adeptus Astartes I knew I would have to have an army that far surpassed his! Then some years later in another White Dwarf there was an article on some one who'd collected an entire chapter! From then on I knew I'd have to have a chapter; that article and the inside of the 3rd Edition Marine codex hammered that vision, that destiny into me.

 

I did have another(longer) post that was much better but due to my (lack of) abilities I closed my Internet and lost it :(

 

So here is my goal. Long term the collection of an entire Space Marine chapter(as printed in the Space Marine codex, armoury etc).

 

However I realise that this will require work and firstly I need to build/paint what I currently have.

 

My chapter colours are similar to the Angels Sanguine, half black half red(of which type I am unsure, most likely scab) and the shoulder pads(well the inner bit) regal blue.

 

This is a chapter that will use both the Space Marine and Blood Angels codex(not at the same time) so I can use my Iron Clads and Thunderfires and not get bored. Oh I will also include my Space Wolves in this too, those drunken space Vikings might get upset if I leave them out.

The Games day Wolf Priest model(minus his bolter but I use him as a Rune Priest)

Astorath the Grim

3x Jump packed Chaplain

Other various Hq's

Lemartes

Marneus Calgar and 4 Honour Guard

 

100 Terminators(50 Assault 50 Normal)

50 Death Company

60 Tactical marines(well more but these need to be stripped), will have about 4 Companies worth of Tactical marines roughly.

Roughly 30 Assault marines(will be boosted up to 60).

4x5 man Devastator squads(will be boosted up to 6x5 an squads, well 6x 10 men s enough for 3 companies).

Various other heavy weapons(mostly Rocket launchers).

A command squad, maybe 2.

50 Grey Hunters.

10 Wolf Guard Terminators.

2 x Masters of the Forge and 8 servitors

5 Wolf scouts.

20 scouts(10 of which are the old metal ones, will be boosted to 40 or 50).

A land speeder(may get a few more).

10 Deathwatch marines(well custom sternguard).

3x Sanguinary Priests.

3x Dreadnoughts

2x Iron Clad Dreadnoughts.

3x Predators(well 4 but one needs to be stripped, painted it when I was 10...)

2x Thunderfire cannons

3x Land Raiders(2 Crusaders and 1 Redeemer).

12 Rhinos(2 needing to be stripped and some work).

2 Vindicators.

7 Drop pods.

3 super heavies(on 'loan' from the Imperial Guard, 2x Baneblades and 1 Shadowsword that can be used as all 7 variants).

Some other things I am forgetting.

 

Most of this stuff has been bought but however some will be ordered next week and some needs to be made.

 

Basically the goal is to strip those models that need to be stripped, repair some models, build those that need building and then get painting! At the end of it I should have 4 companies of Marines(1 All TDA 1st Company and 3 battle companies of marines), a small Great Company and an assortment of tanks.

 

Pictures I am afraid will be on my phone camera so will not be the best quality and I will try to update with them as much as I can. Do not expect painting to be immediate as I(will) have a lot to build first. Oh and I suck really bad at painting(and am not the greatest modeller) so thing like highlighting and washing just goes in one ear and out another ^_^

Hello here are a few pictures(sorry about the quality but my camera decided today was the best time to have a spazz) of my semi built 1st Company. All in all there are 106 Terminators I believe(with a few more arriving in the next week or so) in a built/un-built state, some will be stripped. I hope you enjoy these photo's.

Here is Terminator Squad Mortis. Yes some are AOBR Terminators, there are quite a few of them simply to keep costs down so I can buy another battle company, they will be distributed as best I can amongst normal Terminators. I am not the best modeller in the world and I have strived to get rid of every mould line I can; hopefully as this WIP progresses my skills will grow.

It is official my sanity has gone. My main goal is to have a chapter by this time next year; the Emperor commands it! Noo(i wish although I have 3 White Dwarfs in the 100's...) I meant the 2nd or 3rd White Dwarf I bought; the first being Pete Haines using Black Templars against Orks.

Speaking of old White Dwarfs, it's interesting o compare them. I obtained some old ones from a former player, these were a few back when Black Templars, Tau, and the Lord of the Rings were being introduced. The first ones I had were in French, and date form more recent times when it was mostly a catalog for new models. It's nice to see that under their new editor they're becoming more like the older ones, more filled with content and ideas.

My insanity became so insane it fled in fear. The goal is to collect a chapter and hopefully I can do it in a year or so, however it will differer slightly from the organisation of a normal chapter and will be slightly larger; Sternguard and Vanguard veterans are part of the battle companies(of which there will be 9) and the scout company will be between 100-200 which will be made of some bikers and a splashing of Land speeder storms on the side. Then comes the really fun part; the Armoury. I have no idea how many tanks I will get(each unit will also have a Rhino or drop pod transport). Basically I am going to end up with a mammoth collection, repetitive strain injury from modelling/painting, no money and a massive sense of achievement. Even if I get half way there, It would still be a good sized force. Also on top of that I'll be painting the Wolves I currently have and may build them up to a Great Company or so and some tanks...

 

Edit- Regarding White dwarf I stopped buying them 2 years ago as apart from one or two things they were filled with "buy this" etc and crappy articles, if they are returning to the "Good old days" then I may have to get a subscription but then that is money that could be spent on my Chapter....

Well, I like the new ones, since the new editor there is a lot of improvement. for example, articles by 'Eavy Metal answering questions, detailed exposes on Imperial Guard tank markings, and a few conversion tutorials, as well as more editorial columns (I think, I may be wrong). While there is still the "New Releases" page or two, it is much less pronounced. Battle Reports are more numerous, and with smashing pictures to boot.

Well I must admit that building an entire Chapter has been somewhat of a dream of mine as well.

 

Perhaps its time I finally got started on said project. Maybe help each other/encourage each other. I'm actually developing a whole new chapter, the Exculpators. All I have to do is decide on a good colour scheme and get started.

 

Oh and good luck. If your modelling and painting are anything like your writing this should be good.

 

PS. Do you happen to have the number white dwarf that the whole Chapter was in. I wanna check it out now.

@ The Normish; Well I will buy this months and next months White Dwarf and check them out and decide whether it is worth subscribing and having them again.

 

@ Captain Mick- Thank you very much, I have a free day today so will post more pictures up in a while of all the Terminators I have built at the moment and then picture of my Hammernators in construction :P

 

@ Silver Phoenix- Isn't it the dream of all Space Marine players to have a complete chapter? :P That was my greatest trouble; a colour scheme. Recently I bought some units of a friend and they were largely unpainted except for an Assault Squad, who were half black and half red(scab red I believe) and it hit me; that was a scheme I really really liked(and it was simple for my poor skills :P). I thumbed through the BA codex and spotted that the Angels Sanguine had stolen my scheme :P So I will be adding Regal blue to the inlay of the shoulder pads. Thank you very much and the same to you; encouraging each other would be very good! Keeping motivated will be important as this is a daunting task!

 

I do not know the White Dwarf number but I do have it and later I will look for it for you.

Just to say when I was originally uploading these one of the pictures was really blurry so I picked a Terminator that I thought was in that picture; so if there is 2 pictures of the same Terminator you know why ;)

And the ones I have made already. The painted ones were bought from other people; the Red and Black ones(Iron Lord scheme) are so good that I am not going to strip them and so all my Terminators will be painted as such.

That's the sprues for 6 Terminator Assault squads(30 Terminators in total) and what I aim to(mostly) make today. I have 6days left until I go back to work(boo:( ) and will have a companies worth of marine arriving some time this week so need to shake a power armoured leg!

 

Oh for proof and fun here is the boxes for those Hammernators :D
