Schertenleib
Thanks man! My thoughts? Well, I think that the whole marine thing is all about simply being too badass to care about camo. In my world space marine got an attitude like: Here I am! Shoot me! See if I care! I DARE you to shot me! See what happens! Camo is for cowards who can't take a bullet in the chest and survive! :D That's my thought on camo and space marines. Especially wolves, who's got a Viking mentatlity: Get there fast, berzerk, slaughter everyone, take whatever you need or accomplish your task, then leave and have a big party to celebrate your deeds! For that you don't need camo :D. Was I just called a Coward!! Brother Tuditanus
Loving the weathering.. It looks liek just heavy washes of inks or paints, possibly weathering powders, for the grime and streaking? Alaitoc
The weathering is just heavy use of ogryn flesh wash and badab black wash - keep it simple is my motto! Landraider: DONE Front: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/352dc309.jpg Side: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/90baf9a5.jpg My command squad approves: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/46deeef8.jpg I hope you also like it! I'm pretty satisfied with the paintjob and colour scheme. It fits in nicely in the army! I also like A LOT of weathering on my wehichles, as you can see! Comments and criticism are more than welcome! Skrubb
All right! Old School is cool, like I said in a previous post! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/PC052725.jpg This is possibly my all time favourite miniature. I use him as a wolf guard battle leader, as can be seen in my profile pic (and other pictures I have). Only problem is that he is significantly smaller than new plastic marines. Then again, we are not all of the same size. I am extremely impressed with your speed! You built and painted a land raider to high quality in a single day? Alaitoc
Thank you for all the replies! I can work quickly when I feel inspired by something, but that's not very often :) I have a new list, the theme is still a group of longfangs gathered under a really old and angry fart. They're all sick of knowing that their time soon is over, and they don't really feel like getting half-killed and put into a dreadnought. Therefore, they venture to the most dangerous places in the galaxy to die a glorious death fighting the biggest badasses they can find! Therefore I need to keep the model- count low, and also have a strict low count in total of grey hunters and core units, because there isn't a whole lot of the old farts, so everyone needs a specific task, the rest have to fight like they did in the old days: Like grey hunters. Some prefer it, some don't. Wolf Lord 230 pts Terminator armour Frosthammer(thunder hammer) & Stormshield Wolf tail talisman Wolftooth necklace Saga of the warrior born 5x Wolf guard 315 5 thunderhammer/stormshield Runepriest 120 pts Terminator armour 5x Grey Hunters 135 pts Plasmagun 1x Power fist 1x Mark of the wulfen 1x Wolf standard 5x Grey Hunters 125 pts Plasmagun 1x Power fist 1x Mark of the wulfen 5x Longfangs 190 pts 2 plasmacannons 2 lascannons 1 missile launcher Redeemer 265 pts extra armour Multi Melta Vindicator 120 pts Dozerblade 1500 pts This is the list. One of my friends think it's a little too maxxed out. He plays deathguard. He HATES thunderhammers, plasmacannons and high strength stuff, and I have a lot of it. Do you guys think the list over the top or powergamey? I don't really think that, because of my low models count, but it bothers me that my friend thinks so... Can you show me an example of a powergamey wolf- list, so I can show him what a REAL maxed out list of wolves is? Happy new year! Alaitoc
Played Deathguard yesterday and got totally destroyed! His blightgrenades makes my units a lot less effective in close combat, and I don't have the serious long range firepower nessesary to deal with his units from afar. Then take the fact that he's got 3 billion plasmaguns doesn't make the whole thing any better... This is his armylist: Terminatorlord Mark of nurgle Daemonweapon (That has a tendency to ALWAYS roll 5 or 6 for attacks) Daemonprince Mark of nurgle Wind of chaos Wings 5 Raptors 2 flamers 1 poerweapon Mark of nurgle 1 in rhino 2x5 Deathguard 2 plasmaguns AC w. combiplasma and powerfist 1 Vindicator 1300 pts I think I need to take away my lonewolves that I currently use in 1300 pts, and put in 2 units of longfangs for some serious long range support to deal with his high toughness stuff! Then I have my whole army based around my Lord and wolfguard terminators in my redeemer. They cost 315 pts for 5 of them (wolfguard) with thunderhammer/stormshield...then you look at what 5 ordinary terminators with thunderhammer/stormshields cost.....200 pts??! 200?!!? Is my wolfguard seriously overpriced or what? I don't really think that countercharge is worth 115 pts for 5 men... Well well...they're my wolves, and I love them anyway. I just need to get a few longfangs in...one squad with 4 plasmacannons and one with 4 lascannons will probably do the job! Or does anybody have a better idea? Because right now at 1300 pts I've played 5 games, lost ALL, and I'm not a bad player tactically...so...something's missing in my list...Any other suggestions that doesn't include using 300 bitz that I don't have or have to buy 5 boxes of stuff to get? Alaitoc
Okej, small update: I'm doing a reconstuction of the army, decided that it's probably good for me to change army comp. into Loganwing. That way I can keep my fluff and don't compromise by having grey hunters. Now it's just going to be wolfguard and longfangs all the way through! So, I needed a "count as" Logan, so I started doing Harald Oldwolf with a big frost axe. It is my first try at this technique (Crystal) and I'm actually pretty pleased with the result! Here he is WIP: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/c330edaf.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/4cd67867.jpg Hope you like him so far! Alaitoc
Harald couldn't sleep... It was the time of night when all space marines of Russ were given free time to sleep for a few hours, before the next day of training or war. Harald went to the shooting range to fire a few shots with his stormbolter. He was getting old... The youngsters of the chapter all slept this night. There had been a party to celebrate the coming of 5 new bloodclaws to the chapter. This was a good year for the wolves of fenris, and so had the last years been. The fenrisian youngsters were ferocious and showed great talent. When Harald came to the shooting range, there were at least 10 other men there, some still a bit drunk from the party. They were old, just like Harald. The old wolves often had trouble sleeping. They often spent their nights either shooting, fighting och praying. They never really spoke of what was troubling them, but they all knew. They were old, and they all knew that soon they were going to take a more passive role in the battlefield and not getting into the thick of things where the most glorious battles takes place. Harald had for long been a member of Logan Grimnars personal wolfguard, and he knew him well. Several times Harald had taken a bullet for Logan, and saved his king from wounds that would incapacitate him. Haralds sacrifices meant that Logan was free from harm, and able to lead the wolves of Fenris to victory. These sacrifices showed on Harald. He lost an eye when he got a glancing blow from a chainsword in his face. One thing was clear though: If Harald would be terribly wounded, he would spend eternity encased in the chassi of a dreadnought. That made him worry. An eternity fighting for the emperor was a great honour, but Harald felt it was not the way for him! He would die a glorious death fighting the enemies of the Imperium, that was his destiny, and Harald knew it! After firing a few magazines with his bolter, he went to the great hall. Upon his throne, Logan sat. He was looking troubled, sitting there alone in the darkness. As Harald entered the room, Logan spoke: - I would like to be alone! - Yes, my king, said Harald - Oh, it is you, Harald, come, sit with me, my brother, my friend! Harald approched Logan and sat on a chair by his throne. - You seem troubled, your majesty? - Indeed! I have recieved a mission from the high lords of Terra. It is a glorious mission...a suicide mission...and now I have to decide which ones of my brothers I have to send to a certain death. It is not an easy task... Logan looked at Harald, smiling towards his old friend and loyal bodyguard, then said: - I need a second opinion...who do you think is suitable for this kind of mission? We need 20 men for this mission, and it's a hard one. I trust your judgement in battle, and in command. You've looked out for me when I was in need, Harald, and now, I don't know what to do. Would you do me the honour and act as my advisor this night? Harald had done this a few times before, when his Lord was in need of advice, and felt honoured every time his king asked for Haralds opinion. - Send me! I will take 20 men with me! Give me permission to take the sleepless, the old, lonley and the experienced! We walk around the fang at night, never getting any sleep, because we're longing for the sweet release of death, yet we have not been able to find it on the battlefield! This is our chance, our time to prove ourselves one last time for the Emperor, for Russ! Give me command of this mission, and I shall not fail you! Logan looked pleased. - Exactly what I wanted to hear! You have permission to take 20 men with you, and I will give you full access to the armoury. Take what you need, gather the men and meet me here tomorrow! Lead them as I would! I know you have it in you, Harald Oldwolf! Now, leave! -Yes my King! Harald left the room..... A small background story about my old longfangs and how they all started as an army. I'm not the best writer though, but you get a basic idea of why there's this taskforce of longfangs wandering around slaying the biggest bad@$$es they can find! I also finished painting Harald today! Harald Oldwolf: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/0ab55c1a.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/579baae6.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/8f651500.jpg Do you think he'll work for a count-as Logan? Alaitoc
The army is taking shape! 4 models from 1300 pts! I've played about...12 games with them, won about 5 of them. I'm having a blast playing them! Always outnumbered, always hard as hell to beat! The games I play vs. my opponents are always pretty balanced, but I feel that it's awesome to be balanced when outnumbered 3 to 1, or even 5 to 1! The games are almost always won or lost because of just a few dice rolls, which is how it should be! Keeps the exitement up! Here are some pictures of the army right now, only 4 models to go! Then just a longfangs-pack and I'm good for 1500 pts! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/e1990876.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/c08406a9.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/8cf91591.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214631-long-fang-lonewolves/page/3/#findComment-2611616 Share on other sites

Emperor's Scourge
Do you mostly use Vallejo Game Color? I was also thrown for a loop by the title, I thought you were making Lone Wolves with heavy weapons like Lascannons and stuff. Lol. Frankly your brush skills are fantastic. There have been changes since I first started the army. First my thought was three wolflords and going totally nuts with an HQ and lonewolf- based army, with a theme of old wolflords going into battle with a few of their friends. That changed, when the army didn't work at all in game... Now the theme is well...still to have few models, but not at that insanelevel I had before... Theme is still a bunch of old and lonley wolves ganging up to seek death in battle! (I have a fluff text somewhere in this thread... They're longfangs tired of fighting from afar, so now they fight like they did in the good old days, hoping to find a foe worthy to bring death to dem... Thanks for the criticism. The dreadnought head I was unsure about too, at first, but it adds a whole lot of wolfyness to the model, so I decided to go with it anyway  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214631-long-fang-lonewolves/page/3/#findComment-2651908 Share on other sites
Alaitoc
Dreadnought finished! http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y129/Gorthor/2a7e13f1.jpg I took away the wolf helmet, it looked too cartoonish. And with all the bloodangels going on with deathmasks and stuff, I thought: Why not give my venerable dread a death mask? So I just took a regular head and put it on my dreadnought, and paintd it gold! I think it looks pretty good! C&C Welcome!
