Br0ther Rafen
Hey guys Just curious, has anyone tried to paint SG with red? I don't mind painting them all gold, but it would be nice if they were Blood Angel-ish. What do you guys think? biglou666
I am painting mine gold as we speak (their wash is just drying now! :o). In the fluff it says that the guard should be invariably gold, but they're your models, so you should enjoy and paint them how you want to! Some people follow the fluff, some people follow their hearts... bulley
Nothing wrong with painting them red. If your running the actual Blood Angels chapter then ofcourse the fluff is they are gold, but I never have a problem with people doing "their take" on the chapter, in fact I welcome it, makes for a more diverse game/viewing during games etc.. Ebsolom
I think they'd be fine painted red, maybe with gold detailing? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214656-painting-sanguard/#findComment-2555878 Share on other sites
Lynnean
they were meant to be gold in the fluff; but hey, i guess they'd look better in red too  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214656-painting-sanguard/#findComment-2555903 Share on other sites
I am Legion
I kibashed so hard that my RAS Marine (painted RED, with Yellow helmet) has wings and all the fancy bits. The model looks so good that using this concept you're guaranteed to have the nicest army on the table. For my army I plan to have guys with regular jump packs and wings intermixed. It'll make for one crazy looking Artificier armoured army, the way they were meant to be. So enjoy. JamesI
My Astorath model is just a Sang Guard painted Red. Looks good. I will paint my regular Sang Guard gold though, just to distinguish them from Astorath. Br0ther Rafen
Thanks Black_Sky, that's a very good looking San.Guard. Yeah, i was thinking of something along the same lines, except i'd have a bit more gold. Erasmus of Baal
I've been thinking recently that it might look good to have either a red body and gold wings or vice versa. I'm separated from my paints right now, so I don't know if I'll be able to try it anytime soon, but still. Whitefireinferno
I remember seeing a article on GWs site Back when the codex first came out of Sangguard painted in Flesh Tearer colours Liooked much badass. Leksington
In the codex, SG of the Angel Encarmine are white (with gold trim and black wings). I see no reason why another successor chapter's SG couldn't use Red.
