chaplain belisarius
I have decided to return to my Dark angels and have realised we have one huge tactical advantage-the 5 man combat squad, in a razorback (with special weapon!). I am planning on basing my 1k army around these brilliant squads and backed up by tons of armour! should be fun...:) any hints or tips? chaplain belisarius
Heres my list... 2 dreadnoughts with plasma cannons. 2 vindicators. 2 razorbacks with twin lascannon. 2 5 man tactical squads with meltagun, bp and ccw for sgt. interrogator chaplain belisarius-melta bombs, plasma pistol. 1k points. might take a while to get this painted up but i like the list (wish i had more troops...but i cant lose any of my armoured vehichles!) Good luck with your next game greendestiny! :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214668-razorback-squads/#findComment-2556033 Share on other sites

TheMouth
Maybe I am missing something but what advantage are you talking about? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214668-razorback-squads/#findComment-2556283 Share on other sites
Brother Kovash
I currently run one 5-man tactical squad in my Deathwing list with a meltagun and a twin-linked lascannon razorback as their transport. I usually have a Librarian as my other HQ choice, so he sits in the razorback with the tac squad, mostly camping on an objective and providing fire support. breng77
There is not real advantage over other codices in taking the squad you mentioned. Codex marines cannot take special weapons in a 5 man squad, but that is the only slight advantage as our Rb cost 10 points more than in other codices. As I posted in the "beardy list" thread while it is not a bad list the problem is that it is not a list that has an advantage over other codices (though at least the interrogator chaplain is fairly unique to DA, though I am not sure he really fits here as his largest advantage is wasted as there is nothing in this list that is good in the assault. Blood angels can make a similar list (although without 2 plasma dreads, they can only fit one as it is a Heavy choice, but you can take a furioso dread instead for CC punch.) This would be like 10 points cheaper, and have all fast vehicles (fast vindicators are so much better than ours). Space wolves can make the same list (without the chaplain, but you could take a Rune priest for Psychic defense and support) For 870 points. Which is enough points to include sargents in each squad with Combi-melta and power fist. on top of which their troops are better than ours. So like I said while your list is not bad, and might even work ok, I would not argue that it has an advantage over anything. c As for your particular list. I'm not sure you have enough anti-tank. Either 2 lascannon shots at range or 2 las-cannon shots, followed by 2 melta guns up close (2 vinids as well if you get close). Against this list I think targe priority for most lists would be, pop the 2 razorbacks which negates a good portion of the army, then go after the vindis (just stun or weapon destroy them), and leave the dreads until the end. Isiah
As for your particular list. I'm not sure you have enough anti-tank. Some good points breng ^_^. I also associate vindies as being defensive 'area deniers'. For the type of list you're looking for chaplain belisarius with your mounted small tac squads, one pred with twin las turret /HB sponsons, and another with autocannon/HB sponsons might suit better and give you wider target options over a much great range. As for our 'advantaged' 5-man tac squads - that was certainly true prior to new SW and BA as has already been pointed out. I guess its fine as it stands though as it still is a slight edge over C:SM in terms of that special weapon. Cheers I Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214668-razorback-squads/#findComment-2556577 Share on other sites
breng77
I actually think our 5 man tactical advantage would be best used in a Rhino due to the fact that it is equivalent point to Newer codices(BA and SW are still a bit better but it is not so drastic.) TheMouth
okay thats what i thought...no real advantage compared to say BA SW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214668-razorback-squads/#findComment-2556858 Share on other sites
breng77
No just over codex marines, and even that is debatable, as their Dreads, and Vindicators are cheaper. For a total of 60 points difference. SO depending on how often you end up using the special weapon the Sm codex list might also be bettter. (since you can get more RB weapon options, and more Dread options. Also if you take a cheaper HQ you might be able to fill out to a 10 man tactical to get 1 special and heavy weapon) EX At 1k Libby 2 x Dread with 2 TLAC 2 x Vindicator 5 man Tactical Squad RB Las Plas 10 manTactical Squad ( Melta gun, Missile Launcher, sarge with melta bombs)) RB Las Plas. So while I don't think your list is bad, I just wouldn't say it has an advantage. breng77
Taking another look at your list I think that you are over on points. (for 1k) Looking at your list I Chap (PP, MB) = 140 2 dreads = 250 2 vindis = 250 2 Tac squads = 200 points 2 RB = 170 total=1010 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214668-razorback-squads/#findComment-2556923 Share on other sites

breng77
Yeah I forgot our Razorback weapons were 30 points not 35 like in the other marine codices. Goes to show how often I use them.
