Justin2008
Hey all, the marine army i currently have are all painted black with red trim (this is because the player who i got the marines off was a BT player before turning to BA). He done this because he used kits frm both the BT boxes (not a lot though), DA boxes such as ravenwing, vets etc and BA. he called his guys black wings as they were a mix of both BA and DA, however i want my guys to be purely BA. I have painted a fe models red, with black trim (original BA colour scheme) and have just realised they look like Angels Encarmine. However because they are black already, and are glued together tremendousely well (cant seperate them), i was thinking of changing them to 'Knights of Blood' successor chapter. This is because they are black with red shoulder pads, and part red backpacks. Because of the models already being black, i thought this would allow me to keep the great job of painting the guy done, and will save me on the amount of red i use. What do ya all think? And has anyone got any fluff on these guys, because all i can find is aparagraph in Codex BA 5th edition. For information no what units i got, check out my oldtopic 'what i got' Thankyou P.S. i have just searched and found out the main colour for the Knights Of Blood are actually a dark silver, however i will be doing mine black with the red pads. Would you all say that would work too?
Erasmus of Baal
There's no problem with making your own Chapter that has those colors; I would have a problem fluffwise with you painting "Knights of Blood" in a different scheme, however. I mean, I'll play you, but I wouldn't want to be doing a fluffy campaign with them.
SamaNagol
Just create your own successor chapter with whatever name you like. You dont have to use an existing one.
Justin2008
Oh yeah, i didnt think of doing that lol. I will paint them black, with the red pads, and squad specific helmets. I shall post up some units once i have got them painted and thanks everyone :o
Venerable Jazzman
There is also a Knights of Blood in the Chaos Codex, similar colour scheme of black and red
Redfinger
Just create your own successor chapter with whatever name you like. You dont have to use an existing one. That is what I did. Took all of my BT bits and made a BA successor chapter called the "Sanguine Knights"
bulley
Yeah works. I have my own successor chapter which people keeping calling "blood angel deathwing" because thats pretty much what they look like lol. Though mine have the least blood angel like name, and working on fluff as we speak. Successor chapters imo work better. So many people have BA standard now, it takes a few of us to diversify and give others idea's aswell - spreads a bit of diversity across the stores/clubs rather than sticking to "set" methods. Thats what the successor chapters are there for!. You could come up with some funky fluff around the black as well - black in terms of memorial, for the death of their primarch. Or how about they are all flickering on the edge of the black rage? Black and red are very blood angel'ly anyway.
skawolf
My first test paint for blood angels was very similliar to what you are describing, you can see it here http://s776.photobucket.com/albums/yy43/Sk...pg&newest=1 you can see the mold lines a lot in this pic, but it was a test model. The only reason I didn't go with this color scheme was because I felt compelled to keep on with my "first founding" chapter theme I had going with space wolves and sallies already on the roster (plus to be honest, I didnt want to hand paint that chapter symbol multiple times). So I ended up with a scheme that looks more like this http://s776.photobucket.com/albums/yy43/Sk...nt=PIC_1178.jpg . Otherwise I love the mostly black with red accent, it's awesome! Can you post pics of what you have? I would like to see how it looks.
jbarket
As everyone else has said, just do what you want! But, I thought I'd mention, if you're working with this scheme just to keep with what your buddy has without taking the models apart, it'd be very easy to get the paint off of them without taking them apart. When I decided to go back to my first love, BA, I soaked an entire 1850pt army in Simple Green and they went from Crimson Fists to new plastic in just a few days. skawolf
Simple green is an effective method, or dot 3 brake fluid. I think he wanted to preserve the black because it was well painted or something like that. That is why I am wanting to see pics before I gave any advice.
