Niiai
I was thinking of starting on an army project with loads of cool conversion models, and I think I might just maybe have found one. The idea is a chapter of rennegade space marines that are worhsipping / enthraled by a demon known as the father of the machines. they will have slogans like flesh is weak, soon we shall all be one and only the strong survive. They are bound in an invards spiral where they constrantly try to modefy themself and terraform planets into becoming stronger and better through biological and mechanical augumentation. although they will be worshipping lesser personifised demons, those demons domains would lie in the aria of Theentch for transformation, Nurgle for pestilence and Slaanesh for the corupted/reversed argoganse of the new flesh being more pure then the old. Visualy they will be divided into 2 directions. A white/pink high noble feature with loads of augumentations and dead skinn. Realy human, but they would lack all the humanety like faces etc. as in they have lost there personalaty. I would also like to have black icor osing out from under there eyes/helmets in this category. I would also have like bloated/coroded humans who have transformed or are being transformed. This last section would also involve huge demonic engines to spill out contagion. For those of you who don't know mutch about phyrexia from magic the gathering you can look at this video witch was part of the re-introduction of them in the setting after being gone for some time: I was thinking one of the high priests (tal fellow with white crown/head) as eather a sorceror or a sumoned demon. Chaos defilers would be giant engines with many legs that spill out green fumes and black oil. Perhaps also some dreadnoughts here in this category. For troops I was thinking plague marines since they fitt the "flesh is weak" theme pretty well. Perhaps also some thousand sons since it could represent some people who the changes did not go so good for. Obliterator cults would be eather a titans hand with a head (as in the video) or perhaps even a terminator who has replaced all limbs with guns and is now walking on 4 "stilts" made up of melta/flamer/rocket launcher etc. I realy think I should have a demon prince to represent someone who the chage has gone good for. I also have 15 blood angel assoult marines that I have glued but not painted, I was thinking perhaps make them into slanesh minions and paint them pink/white with a black tear drop instead of a red one and have black icor coming from there eyes. what do you think all? I know that the steel dragon is the "father of machines" but I still think it would be cool with biomecanical deamons. :P It is important that it fits within the Warhammer 40k universe, but also have some cool conversions. I was thinking 1750 to begin with and I need models that perform well on the board as well as look cool. Yes there is some bad spelling, but alas, I am a dyslextian. :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214715-all-hailn-the-father-of-the-machines/ Share on other sites
Shinzaren
I was thinking of starting on an army project with loads of cool conversion models, and I think I might just maybe have found one. This is the Liber forum, where fluff, backrounds, and such thing are discussed. It's generally a good idea not to try and mix the tabletop and the fluff, because they honestly don't work so well most of the time. The idea is a chapter of rennegade space marines that are worhsipping / enthraled by a demon known as the father of the machines. they will have slogans like flesh is weak, soon we shall all be one and only the strong survive. You are basically talking about the Dark Mechanicus, which is a traitor off-shoot of the Adeptus Mechanicus. I dunno about them having "Father of the Machines", but they are all about weakness of flesh and all that. Again, seems very Dark Mechanicus. Tzeentch is the god of change, and therefore wouldn't work well with machines, which are generally constructed to do a single thing and not be modified. Likewise with Nurgle, god of Decay. He wouldn't be about augmentation and what not because that would go against his whole idea of decay. Slaanesh could work, in that they have taken their desire to extremes and worship the perfection of the machine. Again, unless this will be explained in an IA, not really relevant. If it is just a modeling thing, don't include it. If you do plan on explaining it and making it a backround section, then that is all well and good. I would also have like bloated/coroded humans who have transformed or are being transformed. This last section would also involve huge demonic engines to spill out contagion. See above. For those of you who don't know mutch about phyrexia from magic the gathering you can look at this video witch was part of the re-introduction of them in the setting after being gone for some time: I was thinking one of the high priests (tal fellow with white crown/head) as eather a sorceror or a sumoned demon. I was thinking 1750 to begin with and I need models that perform well on the board as well as look cool. All of these seem to be modeling/conversion questions/ideas, and thus have no relevance on your IT, or your backround. Yes there is some bad spelling, but alas, I am a dyslextian. :P No worries. All in all, it looks like you want to play an army that is basically a Scion to the Dark Mechanicus. A lot of your ideas seem to be interesting, but more modeling based than backround based. Perhaps one of the conversion or modeling forums would be more helpful. We deal with fluff round these parts. Niiai
You bring up some very good point. I had not read so mutch about the dark mechanicus so I will cheack it out. They are a bit "bolts and nuts" witch is very 40K human tecnoladgy. I was planing on doing somthing a bit more ...not less crude but more demonish. what would be a good codex to represent what I have in mind as a count as army? I know this is a fluff forum but I think that fluff and gameplay should really match. In my case starting with the models since that is what my oponent will be abel to see once it reaches the tabletop.
