Inspired by SCC; Raven Guard single mini (distraction)

Pig Of Sparta

So after seeing SCC's fantastically painted Raven Guard marines and having never painted one before, I wanted to try painting one myself:

So far the black armour is done although the lighting has kinda bleached out all the highlights, the metals are half done and the shoulderpads are on their way to white (although I can't help but think that grey is more fitting for those that strike from the shadows...). The heavy flamer will be finished up shortly, I just spotted that pooling of Black wash on the back of the heat shield but as it's going to be scorched up a bit I think it'll be ok. Stay tuned for his head shortly as I'm gonna try something a little different for it :tu:

cheers

Maybe he burnt it and he's blowing on it :)

But yeah it looks good brother! I actually like the pooling of the black wash, though it would look better if it came from the muzzle and inwards rather than bottom up, so if you're able to do that it would look like burn damage.

Thanks for the comments guys. Hopefully he looks a little more painted in the picture below. The armour looked so grey because of the light the photos were taken in this morning. He's sort of shrugging/gesturing with his left hand (mainly because I didn't have an arm that would reach the top of the flamer), I kinda pictured him having a conversation with another RG marine .

Update photos:

and his (almost finished) head:

I'm not really sure what colour to do the middle bit of the heavy flamer (where the two small mixing tanks are) just now. I'm thinking of maybe Boltgun Metalling it as I thought I might try going with a brass kind of colour on the black area between the middle bit and the pipes towards the nozzles (I hope you can see what I mean).

On a more positive note though, SCC has very kindly said he can spare a couple of RG decals, so he'll have a nice raven on his right shoulder when he's done :)

cheers

James
