Aqui
Ahead there was a large group of Marines, and an altercation as large as it was confusing. Who do we attack? That gave every voice pause for thought. Everyone? No. We have to do something No doubt. The question is what? I say attack everyone. Those who fight back are our enemies What's to say that our allies won't attack us thinking the same thing? Look, we don't have all day. 'Reaver. Lead the charge! Wait! Don't let him take control...! Raaaaahr! Feth's sake! Aquilanus' form lurched forward, the other personalities unwilling to let the most belligerent personality take over. Brake, Brake! Too late! Impact! His Terminator armour collided heavily with a Marine with their back to him. The momentum threw them both to the floor. The incumbent turned, bringing his weapon to bear. "Aquilanus?! By the Throne, where have you been?! And why did you attack me?" "We felt that a direct approach was appropriate." "We? So you are our Aquilanus, then?" "Ours? What are you talking...?" "Doesn't matter." Looking at his comrades attire, Olisredan wondered briefly where it came from. He even dared wonder why the armours' colour was fluctuating, but stopped that line of thought before the intense headache came back. "Come on. I'll explain everything as we go!" Aquilanus shrugged which was a complicated and noisy thing to do in Tactical Dreadnought armour and quite difficult. Getting up to maximum velocity, he followed. It's about time we found everyone again Yeah, see what happens when we aren't around? Everything goes to pot That happens anyway. More so when we are around Looking ahead, Aquilanus could see that that was an understatement. Olis
He's back! Now... what's with the heavy-duty get up, eh? Did a bit of Finders-Keepers, I see. :D Assuming you battered me in the back, that means the door is down and the group led by Legionary me has got in and the battle continues. Which means the Colrous, Cutup and Ovicius are badly outnumbered now. Which means... I get to tell everyone not to skewer the Colrous. Cutup and Ovicius are more-or-less fair game though (assuming they managed to finish the Cormac Massacre before the door was blown in...). Ace Debonair
I was halfway through writing up the next part when I realised I have no idea what's happened to the Colrous, nor how to proceed. So instead, I'm making a proposal. Bear with me for a minute: It's like this. Ovicius and the Colrous have a master, who has many servants. One of those servants is the Putrescent Knight, a hulking fusion of man, Daemon and Machine. Think along the lines of a slightly scaled-up Nurgle-y Obliterator, clad in rotting black armour and daemonic carapace, with an enormous, crude-looking power sword and a shield that looks like a ceramite slab covered in ribcages. His face is covered by a plain black helmet with a facemask like a snarling daemon. Both helmet and mask look as though they are attached to the Knight by the use of ancient, corroding nails. The Knight is incapable of speech, although hisses and roars are not unheard of. He is also very, very, very hard to kill. As in 'might take four or five Liberites working together' sort of difficulty. So here's my proposal. I can't write up the next part since I'm not sure what just happened, but I must get revenge for Cutup stealing my axe. So, in short, he needs to stay out of the main battle so I can scrap with him. Cutup's mine to fight, his fate in my hands, etc. In exchange, the Putrescent Knight and the manner in which he is defeated are fair game for anyone who wants to write up the next part and include a few Liberites (but not me) taking him on. Sound fair? EDIT: Ace, be more specific. Silly Apprentice Techmarine. Dizzyeye01
I'm alright with you getting Cutup, he did steal your axe after all. Seems to me there is 8 versions of Colrous who has gone rainbow warriors on everyone. There is also the Alpha Legion I might of set on the Liberites , though they can always sneak into the shadows and disappear till next time OR reinforcements come in to even the fight. I can always handle the entrance of the Putrescent Knight if its okay with you guys Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214866-this-is-the-liber-astartes-part-ii/page/55/#findComment-3730434 Share on other sites
Olis
Okay, it appears a summary is in order: Moderati me (the 'real' me), along with 'alternate' Aquilanus, 'alternate' Deathspectre, 'pacifist' Ace and a mob of Cormacs get through a bunch of double doors that I assumed was where the stuff to solve the dimension/time travel shenanigans resided. The room was empty except for a hologram of the Colrous laughing his face off. The Colrous, Cutup Cormac and their new friend the renegade Librarian Ludwig Ovicius (guess who he's the alternate of...) ambush the Moderati and co. while they express their... displeasure at being thwarted. Cue everyone being taken hostage. The Legionary me and his group (helterskelter, 'real' Ace and Azure Ace, Dizzyeye and Future Dizzyeye, Madwolf and The Promethean) find the hostage situation and proceed to break in, after the Colrous and his cronies locked the door. In the meantime, Ovicius has merged the Colrous' device with Moderati me's device in preparation of 'closing' this reality. A poor move on the part of the Colrous has split him into several coloured versions of himself (I called it being 'refracted'). The Cormacs are subjected to a mass-summary execution (whether or not any will have survived the doors being blown in is up to you guys, I suppose). (Presumably) Legionary me and his gang are now in and fighting the trio (although now is a good time to introduce the Putrescent Knight to save the trio from being overwhelmed). 'Real' Aquilanus has turned up and has (sort of) rescued Moderati me, in his shiny new (read: battered, old and priceless) terminator armour. That, I think sums up the current situation with the main groups. There's still various random individuals and groups around and about, though. Ace - I pretty much agree on the situation with Ovicius and the Colrous, as they answer to others (which atm is the Colrous' version of Brother Argos) who could conceivably answer yet to someone higher still. Anyhoo, have at Cutup, brother. I know that chain-axe is precious to you (don't forget that Cutup is armed with a plasma pistol, too). ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214866-this-is-the-liber-astartes-part-ii/page/55/#findComment-3731282 Share on other sites
Ace Debonair
In the spirit of further summary: Khornate Promethean has encountered Arin Bladewind, the Chainsworn's very own Ace Debonair. Arin is seeking Moderati Olis, thinking he can take Olis' device for his own nefarious goals. Aximus of the Iron Wardens (me again) is also after Olis for broadly similar but slightly more noble purposes. Now that I think I have a handle on what's going on, I might try and write the next part up, but it'll be after the weekend since I'm busy with family stuff for the next few days. Astus
And to further round the summary off: Prometheus (Mechanicus Obliterator-equivalent me), Aquilus (Mechanicus Obliterator-equivalent Aquilanus), Reyner, and Cannon Cormac are attempting to help Moderati Olis, but were stopped by a laser grid. They can provide some heavy firepower if anyone needs it. Prometheus and Aquilus are also seeking Moderator Olis for his device, although their intentions beyond that are currently unknown. I can write some more up sometime soon, but I'm not sure when that will be. Brother Argent
And for even further summary (although I have been away...) Interdictors SP was with Ace on the bottom level however I seem to have lost track of him as, it would appear, has everyone else. Star Leopard SP is currently with Brother Cambrius on his way down to help the others. And a new SP (Traitor) is about to try and unite all the various Chaos incarnates of everyone on the top level and attempt a coup of Liber while everyone else is fighting alternate versions and this Colrous guy further down... I admit I have been a little more absent with my parts then intended but I blame RL... and Ace... always Ace... Ace Debonair
SP: Just because 90% of the stuff in this thread is my fault doesn't mean it's necessarily my fault! -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= This is going to get complicated, fast, isn't it? You think it's bad now, I'm just waiting for somebody to introduce the Liber Cluster as an altogether different reality with even more different motives and goals in mind, and far more resources than the 'true' reality's Liber. I actually had in mind you guys building up a climax with Colrous, only to have a Conflagrator Olisredan show up and set fire to the main protags and super-special, totally-required, this-is-so-Ace-doesn't-feel-alone fateful item of fate, because other realities must burn. Olis
Three figures thundered along the hallway knowing that time was growing short. The trio were clad in Indomitus pattern tactical dreadnought armour and moved with absolute purpose. Leading them was an astartes in the white-orange livery of a veteran Conflagrator, toting a heavy flamer and a chainfist. Following up immediately behind was another, his top half scarlet, while his legs were white. He was armed more traditionally with a storm bolter and a power sword. The final member of the three, in quartered black and orange, clanked along in the rear. His bionics made him possibly the sturdiest and most reliable of them but the Conflagrator kept his distance, an irrational dislike settling heavily over this mission. He too was armed with a storm bolter but was equipped with a power fist in place of his comrades power sword. They had come far from the Culinarium, burning and blasting apart shadowy hound-daemons and dealing with unruly alternates as best they could. It usually ended with them on fire or on their backs. Sure the false Liberites could fight back, as the Conflagrator had put it, but they often had not the firepower to overcome one terminator, let alone three. Still, the trio bore their own scars and marks from the fighting, battle plate as tough as terminator armour was not invulnerable. Ahead of them sat a Predator parked outside Generatorium double doors while the sounds of fierce combat echoed from within. All three of the terminators slowed and stopped outside the threshold. Pandemonium reigned inside. False Liberite fought false Liberite, a rainbow coloured group of enemies blinked from one combat to the next in an effort to land killing blows on other false Liberites. The Conflagrator checked his fuel load. Half full. Good enough to light up the melee, no problem. He brought the weapon to bear as one of the other two, the orange and black Iron Ravager, put his hand on the muzzle to lower it. The Conflagrator flinched at the touch. "Not now, Brother Olis. We must-" Brother Aegnor began. "Cleanse?" The Conflagrator said hopefully. A hint of mischievousness trickled through the word. "No. We must-" "Purge?" He ventured again. "No..." The Iron Ravager sighed. "Kill?" He finished. The expectant tone belied his growing lack of patience. "Now that we can do." Grinned the Scarlet Sentinel, igniting his power sword. The Conflagrator grinned back. "Emperor, divine in your wisdom, guide my hand to smite the unrighteous. Ave Imperiam." Brother Olis intoned. Weapons lit, the three barged into the combat, intent on securing the device before villainous hands could spirit it away. Ace Debonair
I remember this thread. But after the Great Turmoil and the time of the Many Selves, so much has changed. Nobody truly knows how this saga ended, but we live in a Liber dominated by the changes. Brother Argos stepped down as Ultimate Master and Charioteer of the Boards and placed the fate of the B&C in the hands of us all. Dozens of people are gone - replaced by alternate selves with strange new names and slightly different identities. All because I blew up an unholy oven with a void grenade. Which sounds very odd when I say it like that - I promise it made sense at the time. EDIT: Also, welcome back, CMID! Always good to see a familiar face return home. Brother Argent
Ah Ace, you should know that the B&C and indeed even Liber are subject to the ever powerful changing powers of Chaos. Time moves on, as do people, and much that once was is lost. Perhaps it is time for a new This is the Liber. Long have these halls remained quiet, dust gathers where once great Liberati stood. The Deepest Darkest Depths of the Liber have grown so crowded. But a return of some of the great Liberati and Liberites of the past (CMID et al) could speak of great times for the Liber. Ace Debonair
This thread was a great place to expend excess creative energy back in the day, but as you say, things change. These days there's the Liber Cluster project, the Thought Experiments, the Liber Challenges - plenty of great ways to enrich the hobby without writing page after page of madcap hijinks. Anyway, most of the people I know well enough to write don't exactly hang around here anymore. Besides, the days of the Bowling Ball are pretty much over. The Liber's mellowed in the face of the rapidly-changing, ever-inconsistent background of 40k. I think it's time to let this thread slumber, though hopefully it will not be forgotten.
