Well, first I suggested Sun Lords. I thought a sun-based symbol would look really cool against the green armor.

Then I remembered that the Chapter symbol had already been selected.

When I suggested Obsidian Swords, the idea I had was to have a nifty black sword for the badge.

After submitting the name, and realisation sunk in, the sound of one man facepalming echoed throughout England.

EDIT:

And the sound of one man typo-ing echoed throughout the Liber.

EDIT EDIT:

Followed by the now almost traditional 'is-it-that-time-already,-set-your-watches-Liberites' daily sound of Ace cursing and planning yet another crusade to eradicate spelling mistakes from the galaxy.

And lo it was heard as far west as deepest darkest Wales. :P They were both good ideas though had the symbol not already been decided. perhaps names for you to reserve in future? ;)

You might want to try that edit one more time, Ace :P

Oh, and congrajulations, Cambrius, the better name won.

Hmmmm... should I contribute to the next part?

Just following up since I haven't seen any chatter on the current challenge - are the requirements reasonable (and by this I'm solely concerned with the deadline and minimum word count)?

Seems alright to me, although I won't be getting anything done until next week due to real life getting up in my face. :)

Dunno about everyone else, though. :D

And for those of you that are rigidly married to the Index Astartes article format, this would be the equivalent of "Beliefs". ;) However, there is intentionally room for more stuff. The method may be descriptive or demonstrative, or some combination of the two (or even some other method that I haven't considered).

When will I learn not to taunt fate? :)

I'm actually in Real Life up to my neck right now... looks like I might have to miss this challenge out after all.

I return! In a blaze of...glory...? Still, I've been away for awhile, so is there perhaps a place where the current information of the chapter is listed up-to-date, and concisely organized?

Welcome back, Shinzaren.

You want all the info on this chapter compiled in one place? ^_^

Your time away from the Liber has made you soft.

I just got a nice little business trip thrown into my lap so I'm going to extend this challenge for one week. This might give some of you that haven't had time a little more time to develop something.

Also, the limited feedback I've received is that 750 words might be too much as a minimum, so I'm going to drop the minimum to 500 words.

Anyone that has already submitted their work may revise and re-submit - I will use the last submission provided to me when we get to the judging.

And we have our winner. Only one member submitted anything for Chapter Beliefs:

The Obsidian Swords believe fervently in the glory of their Primarch, giving honor to him and to the Immortal Emperor. As all Space Marines do, they credit the Emperor, not as a God, but as the ultimate example of the heights to which mankind may ascend. They believe that Roboute Gulliman was his favored son, chosen by the Emperor himself as the greatest of the Primarchs. By honoring the Holy Codex penned by Gulliman, the Hunters pay homage to their progenitor, and through him, their Emperor. Though faith and a shared belief in Roboute Gulliman
So congratulations to Shinzaren, who now rates to display the "Contributor" image in his signature:

Congrats, Shinzaren. ^_^

I didn't have the time to join in with this part of the contest, regrettably.

...That and the half-finished draft I had was basically bereft of good ideas. ;)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in this discussion.

Righto.

Can I make any mention of the Obsidian Hunters' fortress monastery? I'm picturing it in a specific place on Illustris you see, and the key trial taking place in roughly the same area. ^_^

On a similar note, I did leave a couple of options for where the FM could go when describing the homeworld, so there'd be room for others to do something similar if the mood took them.

You may mention the fortress-monastery in vague terms, but may not give it a name. If in doubt, send me a rough draft first. I want everyone to have a little freedom for developing the fortress-monastery later on, so I don't want any of the earlier elements (including this one) to be too binding in any area.
