Little Lost Swordsman
Having been nearly 1000 miles from my stuff, I got back earlier today and managed to alter this guy into his current form. The squad I had finished was mostly new, but this one was something I had been working on for a while. He'll count as a long fang. http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/9663/003nzr.jpg Bragi Who Roars Like Thunder looked into the darkness of the building's interior, his astartes altered vision enabling him to pierce the gloom. Six World Eaters had poured out in the last few minutes, their charred corpses lying at the feet of his squadmates. A roar echoed from the shattered door frame and a giant daemon charged out. "Well," he muttered, "Nothing is ever easy". Little Lost Swordsman
Happy New Year to all, and for those of you still interested, I have a few updates. First is a little work I have done on my terminator, perhaps you remember him and perhaps you do not. This (insert proper expletive) is giving me no end of problems. Have yet to come up with a name, if anyone has any ideas I would be happy to hear them. Anyhoozle, without further ado, here is my wip TDA. http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/7609/001asb.jpg http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/4924/002ptb.jpg As you can see, I am using .060" styrene rods for the pistons on his legs, and I am trying to think of something to make the rims that the pistons attach to, although I am having some difficulty with that. I have tried green stuffing them a couple times but always end up screwing it up. Please give me ideas, I need help. Also I am working on my first of three dreadnoughts. (Fair warning, an extended amount of fluff follows, so feel free to skip and just see the pictures.) The Sons of Heimdall were not always called such. It is known that thousands of years in the past the chapter suffered a serious calamity. The founding that they were created in is not known to the warriors, nor is their primarch. It is said that once they were fleet based, but after the calamity they somehow gained possession of the planet Heimdall. The warriors have a fortress monastery on the planet's third moon, referred to as Wotan's Folly. The firstborn son of each noble house is given to the chapter on his fifth birthday. Their names are no longer used, instead they are simply referred to as "boy" until they progress as aspirants at their training location. The planet is fairly diverse in terms of ecology, boasting equatorial rain forests and polar glaciers, as well as deserts, grasslands, and generally standard topography on the twelve continents. The aspirants are trained in three camps based in harsh conditions. As the aspirants progress they are rated, and take the name of their camp and a number denoting their comparative rank in the class. Thus, the best aspirant in camp Bleda will be Bleda One, and the fifth best in Camp Voevod will be Voevod Five. The youths do not gain a name until they do something notable in the service of the chapter, so the youths are glory mad and will hurl themselves at danger in order to be named. It is a great honor to be named by a very senior warrior, but often these ancient slayers will keep their young charges under control, at least to some extent. (This explains the use of counts as blood claws) When the chapter master dies, the companies nominate one of the company lords, who must then be confirmed by the triumvirate. These three ancient dreadnoughts are relics of the first chapter, bitter and angry. They alone know the full history of the chapter, though they will not speak of such things to anyone other than the current chapter master. If the candidate for new master is deemed adequate the triumvirate will accept him. If for some reason they think he is not good enough, he will be ripped asunder and the three raging dreadnoughts will bellow their fury at the foolishness of the chapter for sending someone so unacceptable. If you read through that and have anything to contribute, I would be happy to hear it. Obviously I'm just beginning, but it is a start. And the wip pictures of Murgen the Ancient. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6181/003vtt.jpg http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/5061/004cuj.jpg http://img140.imageshack.us/img140/4893/005ql.jpg I think I might start using dreadnoughts with twin linked autocannons for purposes of knocking over guard heavy weapons teams (love instant death) as well as knocking over light to medium armor and putting rounds on daemons. What do you think of the autocannons? Thanks for looking. Little Lost Swordsman
Only a small update for now, work and school have been keeping me very busy. This is a test pattern for what I think I will be painting the rank and file. As you can see I have basecoated some marines, nine in fact. http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5498/002hbb.jpg http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8134/003tgu.jpg The next few are of some marines that are under way, but are not very far along. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/4208/004dmj.jpg http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3319/005fqx.jpg If you look on the right of this next picture you will see the beginning of my attempt at making a marine in Iron Armor. http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/6581/006at.jpg Comments are welcome, as always. Little Lost Swordsman
A few updates, specifically some work on painting my dreadnoughts and some work on my blood claws. http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/7193/014jto.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5523/015xk.jpg http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3373/016imr.jpg http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/4734/017in.jpg Thanks for looking, feel free to comment Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214942-yet-another-space-marine-blog/page/2/#findComment-2625777 Share on other sites
Little Lost Swordsman
Just a few poor quality pictures of the painting I've done on Malek. I'm going to paint my hq types gold and have the color of the right arm indicate what the unit does. In this case because he counts as a wolf priest I'm going to make his right arm black. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/2741/004yzm.jpg http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/3018/003gpw.jpg http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3300/002nplh.jpg Still not sure how I want to color the axe head. Little Lost Swordsman
Another update, here we have a Rune Priest. http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/8286/005gg.jpg http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/6838/004ivn.jpg http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/7083/003oot.jpg Myrdred the Blind is a talented warlock for the Sons of Heimdall. While serving alongside the Crusaders when Karnak Battle Seeker commanded the squad his powers went horribly wrong. A discharge of psyker power incinerated Karnak and crippled Jungir who became known as Always Wounded. In a fury Barus, then known as Barus Firebrand, knocked Myrdred from his feet and with his hands ripped the eyes out of the psyker's head. Sweeping up his lost commander's power sword the warrior was going to kill Myrdred when Malek With Arms Soaked Red intervened. As punishment for his actions, Barus was chained to the power sword and the Crusaders were assigned to protect Myrdred with their lives. Myrdred has taken to wrapping a strip of cloth around his head, and now his powers have not only grown more controlled, they have become more powerful. Little Lost Swordsman
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I was a concerned he would look a little silly. I'm currently working on getting a few terminators put together, one will count as Logan Grimnar, another will count as Njal Stormcaller, and I will have a few others, because what space marine army would be complete without terminators? Below is the axe and storm bolter that I am making for the chapter master, his name is still pending. http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/4514/005ato.jpg The axe was made from two of the axes from the wolf guard terminator box. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/3051/006bqk.jpg Next is a wip of Kebra Coward's Master. I haven't come up with a backstory for him, but I really like this model, so I will have something clever to say about him. http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/311/003daa.jpg And here is Bleda Twelve, an eager young warrior who seeks to earn a name for himself. http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/2037/004qpt.jpg And here are the rest of the members of Initiate Squad Harad. http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/3692/007xq.jpg Thanks for looking. Little Lost Swordsman
A few quick updates First, I added the ribbon from the banner topper thing from the WFB knightly orders box to the back of my Librarian's (yes, I'm calling him a librarian even though I'm using the rules for a rune priest) head. I added a little green stuff to try to make things smoother. http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/958/008cw.jpg Next, after playing around with the marine I was trying to give Iron armor, I looked more closely at some pictures of the forgeworld Mark III armor and have come up with this as the beginning of a wolf guard with a power fist in Iron Armor. It's not a spot on recreation of the official pieces or even very true to them as much better sculptors like doghouse or synapse, but as a start I like it. http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/9816/007tp.jpg http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/8761/006cgg.jpg http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7168/005xx.jpg Now for the update I have been working the most at, and if I wasn't bald as a rock, this would be the miniature that has me ripping out my hair in frustration. I think it's starting to come together as a terminator. I just bought some dreadnought leg armor that I will use as the shoulder pads for this guy, and I am thinking that his left hand will be holding some head. There is still a lot to do on this piece, but in the end I am going to have it count as Njal Stormcaller in dreadnought armor. Without babbling any more, here is the very wip terminator. http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/3751/004ayi.jpg http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/4335/003pjf.jpg As always, comments and criticism are more than welcome. MagicMan
Wow, alot of this stuff is great. The blind librarian is especially cool. With your latest model the shoulders look a little low. Maybe it looks fine with shoulder pads, but if you look at regular terminators the places their arms attach to are only marginally below the line of the head. Just a thought. Keep up the good work! Little Lost Swordsman
MagicMan, thank you, I'm glad you like what I've done. You are right, the shoulders are a bit low, I'm hoping it's less noticeable when I put some shoulder pads on, but I am not sure. xscottfergox, you're right, he kinda does look like that. I've been working on a few other things, so I should have some more updates later today. Little Lost Swordsman
As a result of this blizzard, I have been inside all day painting and building. So, for a quick update, here are a few photos of some work I have made on my terminator. I still haven't received the dreadnought shin guards I bought, so as yet he still lacks shoulder pads. http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/7862/005tf.jpg http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/8206/006yjp.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/5262/007ba.jpg http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/9181/008pwj.jpg I think I will update again soon, I'm just going to go back to painting. Sons of Horus
They look pretty good but some of the models seem to have too-long torsos and too-short legs. Little Lost Swordsman
The legs are a little short, but I figure some marines would have different body types. I always figured space marines would look stubby because of how beefy they are, even without armor. Having made some progress on a few things I thought I would share. First I have finished making my counts as Njal Stormcaller, still need to basecoat him and paint him, but I don't think I'll add anything else to him. The shoulder pads are dreadnought shin pads, and I have him holding the head of an aspect warrior a friend of mine let me have. http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8821/001xlf.jpg http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/2002/002fnk.jpg http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/9086/003ee.jpg Connavar Who Stirs the Elements is ancient by any standard of the Imperium. It is said that before he earned his name he fought beside Dante of the Blood Angels on an obscure battlefield when that venerable chapter master was but a sergeant. Known for his mastery of esoteric psychic powers he has been instrumental in numerous conflicts that the Sons of Heimdall have participated in. On Slusa Vorn the Fourth Company under the command of Borcha Hammerhand was fighting a Chaos incursion that seemed to be well in hand until an ancient daemonic idol was activated. Hordes of the fiends entered the material realm, and the planet would have been lost had it not been for a strike force under the command of Borcha with Connavar at his side. After fifty hours of endless fighting fourteen marines still lived to reach the idol. Connavar was able to neutralize the idol while the others protected him. In the end, the Fourth Company was reduced to four survivors and one brother who was interred into a dreadnought. It is spoken of by many in the chapter as the Fourth Company's finest hour, and Connavar's greatest feat. Next I have some work done on my land raider. I'm pretty happy with the white front and the grey I have on the sides. The black spots are a few places that I'm going to add battle damage to, and I am going to add more damage to it. http://img824.imageshack.us/img824/7753/004bl.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/2258/005jg.jpg http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/7876/006jai.jpg http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/6435/007pcs.jpg Thank you for looking, and comments are always welcome. Little Lost Swordsman
Another progress update, though they are becoming less frequent. First is a counts as wolf guard that I have been working on. I'm trying to make it look like mark III armor somewhat in the style of the Master of the Arsenal, so I have slotted the back of the legs and I'm going to further bulk up the front and make the feet look like a knight's sabatons.. I'm also going to be giving this piece a crusader style helmet. Here it is, as much as I have done on it. http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/4879/002msw.jpg http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/7290/003pzj.jpg http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/5067/004vh.jpg I also have been working on making a bionic lower leg, and to be honest I am not thrilled with how it is turning out, but I can keep working on it, and if worst comes to pass, I can always cut it off and start over. http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/5822/005xcd.jpg http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/7969/006dk.jpg http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/3039/007ms.jpg Thanks for looking. Little Lost Swordsman
I know it's been a while, but I am back for those of you still paying attention. I have done a little painting on Murgen the Ancient, one of my dreadnoughts. Here are a few low quality pictures of him inside the shoebox for some of my dress shoes. http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/250/0022ts.jpg http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/4781/0032ap.jpg http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6726/0012id.jpg For those interested, I paint the grey by starting with astronomicon (spelled wrong probably) gray washed with badab black, then I drybrush fortress gray on. I like grays for some reason. Next is a picture of my second terminator. http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/9141/0052y.jpg http://img848.imageshack.us/img848/4131/0042.jpg Shot at 2011-02-28Obviously, his weapon loadout is going to be with the cyclone missile launcher, and I will figure something out for the arms or I will have to call him the termie de milo (yes, it is a terrible pun :D back off) Finally are a few wip of Harad Chooser of the Worthy, my counts as Wolf Guard who I will be sticking in with my blood claws. As I have said on previous pictures of him, my inspirations for this model are the forgeworld mark III Iron armor and the master of the arsenal. http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6977/0062m.jpg http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/7141/0072kl.jpg http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/6173/0082mb.jpg http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/5242/009rag.jpg I'm having some trouble with the feet, but I have gotten better at making sabatons, so I think the next attempt will be usable. Thanks for looking. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214942-yet-another-space-marine-blog/page/2/#findComment-2674702 Share on other sites
