As always, C&C welcome !

These guys are amazing. I envy your work.

As for names, I poked around for name meanings and found a few that might work for any future characters...

Alexander is traditionally Greek and means roughly "protector of mankind", so that could work for a Chapter Master or Company Master. (Alexi or Alexis are spinoffs)

Ambrose means immortal - so that could function for an ancient of the chapter, such as a Dreadnaught or some such.

Cicero is like... "The Historian", and that could work in well with a Librarian.

Galen indicates a calm person, a healer - for an apothecary perhaps

just a few thoughts

Thanks for comments, guys.

And it's nice to see you here, Nobu ! ^^

Very well executed colour scheme.

My only concern is the obvious BA symbols on the BA parts you've used, and the mixture of parts.

The main scheme is quite SW-ish, even though I get the greek intention.

Somehow they don't come together with the pure BA models. Two very different worlds.

I mean the Thunder Hammer guy looks a bit ridiculous for me with the iron nipple pattern armour and the savage SW head.

The librarian and wolf priest are also just BAs in a different colour for me.

I'd try to go for a more subtle kitbash... I mean I also use Sang Guard legs for my Berzerkers and for my loyalists too, but I try to remove the symbols at least.

Again, the paintjob is perfect and the assault sarge is pure win, it's just my personal taste that I like if there is some kind of consistency in the parts used and the different elements of the army are coming together through it.

The Sang Guard style is very articulate and strong with a lot of typical ornaments, so a more careful use might be beneficial. :D

@Pattison : I've heard your comments, but in my vision, the members of the chapter comes from different tribes/cities. Some of them are civilized, other are not. I hope you'll appreciate the next units...

Great work, as others have stated. I just fell in love with the razorback. I'm having some trouble making my own tanks look any good, but your are just fantastic. I dont know what it is that does it, tough. Maybe the freehand-writing, or the perfect wear and tear, or the red dust that is everywere but not too covering... ah... well, it all looks stunning.

  • 4 weeks later...

Looking fantastic. I have a pile of SM boxes and some FW bits on the desk awaiting. These sort of things provide great inspiration.

One question. How do you do your armour chipping ? I have seen various techniques and yours looks spot on.

  • 3 months later...

OMG ! I didn't update this thread for ages ! ^^

First, some replies :

@S'jet :

I'm guessing the weathering is the same red ochre pigment you used for your bases? How did you apply it?

Mainly diluted with water in the recesses, but some pigments were drybrushed on the tank large areas.

@sbird1975 :

I paint some scorched brown dots and lines to do the chipped parts, then I simply underlined them in white or light green. I'll try to do some kind of tutorial next time I paint marines.

@Kerrigan :

It's weathering powder on the models feet, isn't it?

On the feet and on the bases too. Pigments for creative art...

Second, here are the new membres of this Sacred Band :

- 2 Myrmidons (count-as wolf guards) have joined the fight (not yet, but in my 2000pts army, I must field them), Argos on the left of the pics and Pelleas on the right :

http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/9926/dsc07628g.jpg

- the second hoplite (count-as grey hunters) squad done (since the pic was taken, I've drilled the barrels, finished the bases and some details), minus their rhino transport :

- the Myrmidons in tactical armour :
