Lord_Hail
I have a compitition to go to next saturday and i wish the opionion and tatical advice of my fellow brothers. They will be leading a unit of Deathwing equiped with: 2 lighting claws, a heavy flamer with chainfist, and 2 with storm sheild and thunder hammers; they will be in a land raider crusader also. If i take Beilal (lighting claws) the unit will have the Deathwing standered. How ever after the showing of Brother McAdoo (Interagator Chaplin with storm bolter, TDA, and crozius) i have become split with who should lead them. Thanks in advance for opinions and advice. (sorry if this is in the wrong spot) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214993-who-to-take/ Share on other sites
LardO'Blood
Take Belial. Then they will be scoring and your army will have Ld 10. What size is your army anyway? I hear at 2000ish Deathwing armies should take a second HQ, though I don't usually. Tanhausen
What is the competition about? Seems like 1 HQ + 1 unit (Elite or troops). If you let us know a bit about the conditions maybe we can help ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/214993-who-to-take/#findComment-2560920 Share on other sites
Lord_Hail
Sorry didn't have time to go into details last night. 2000 pt army list, most (all but 2 people) play marines at this store; random missions and objectives some from 3rd edition to 5th (guy in charge loves to mix it up). My army list is: (Belial, Deathwing with company banner, heavy flamer and a chainfist); Command squad with company champ, standered bearer, rhino; Company master with lighting claw and plasma pistol; Vindicator; 2 ten man taticals with plasma gun, plasma cannon, and power fist; Dread armed with plasma cannon and extra armour; Pred Anilator with Heavy bolters; and finialy a ten man tatical with a flamer, power fist and multi melta, . I know it is a weird setup but i'm trying a new aproch (not deathwing or ravenwing heavy) normaly i take sammy on jetbike and a fullydecked out ravenwing squad. ValourousHeart
I don't play DW, but I do play RW and so I have to ask myself a similar question in when fielding units other than just RW. The Chaplain will make more of an impact on the CC results of the squad he joins than Belial will, which means that the DW squad will be a big threat. But that threat will be localized. Belial is the choice I would make simply for the fact that the DW squads become scoring. After all the DW squad is still a threat even without the chaplain. Currently you have 3 scoring units without Belial, which can combat squad into 6 units. This isn't bad at all, and 1 more scoring unit probably won't make much of a difference in an objective game. But you do only have a single transport, which means that if there are multiple objectives, you MAY be hard pressed to get scoring units into position. So having one of those scoring units be able to teleport down on or near an objective mid/late game may not be a bad idea. Ozybonza
You should always, always take a terminator apothacary if you can. Beats the hell out of a banner anyday (although both is always nice) so I would go with Belial. Even in a mixed-wing army, a scoring unit of terminators can come in very handy. Lord_Hail
Only reason thier is no apocathary is that i plan on them either being in the crusader or close combat.... Although if i did have an apocathary i could just walk'em to screw with people..... Remember that you measure the Apothacary's 6" bubble from the hull of the LR if he's inside, extending his range quite a bit. Also, you'll find that after your squad face-smashes something, they are standing around, waiting to get shot at. There's no way you'll be able to keep them in the tank/in combat the entire game. You only need to save ONE terminator and he's already made more than his point back. Lasty thing to remember: DA apoths can save plasma wounds, unlike SM apoths who grant FnP which doesn't work on AP1/2 weapons (ours just don't work on "instant death" or power weapons).
