thundrchickn
I've been away from 40k for a few weeks now trying to regroup. Everyone has adjusted well to razorspam so I've been theory crafting and list building trying to find my new bread and butter. Here's a new idea I wanted to try. I never thought the SR was viable. Too expensive and too fragile. Libby sword/shield 3 Sang Priests -2power weapons - termy armor Assault termies 1 TH/SS SR extra armor Multi melta assault cannon 2 RAS 10 man 2 meltas 1 powerfist stormravens Extra armor multimelta assault cannon 3 RAS 5 man flamers razorbacks las/plas 1850 he had archon w/ DE stuff 1 wytch squad with stuff 2 warrior squads with stuff grotespues trueborn 2 ravagers incubi a bunch of boats 2 objectives pitched deployment he siezed the initiative (he's a jerk like that) He siezed initiative which sucked because I opted to start with the ravens on the board since I had first turn. 1 went down immediately,1 was immobilized and the 3rd was just fine. That was his first turn advancing his boats at me. (PS THIS GUY WON HIS ARMY FROM THE STORE BY WINNING A 3 MONTH LONG CAMPAINGN WHERE HE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO LOSE A GAME...SO HE'S GOOD ...WITH REGULAR ELDAR AT LEAST) My turn I keep the razors back shooting down a couple boats. The good stormraven advances onto his objective immobilizing his incubis boat stranding them in no mans land. The immobilized raven blows up the boat with the archon/grotesques in it. (this is by far the nastiest thing he had in his army) They were in no mans land a short walk from my 2 10 man squads. He closes the gap on my squad with his archon squad. More boats come at me. He immobilizes 2 of my razors. I turbo boost again getting into a war with his ravager aftr depostiting the termy squad to multi assault his tarpit squad and incubi. I screwed up here because I entered cover to touch a model making me I1. I made the warriors run and killed half the incubi but lost a couple termies. More boats crashed and burned on my side of the table. His boat squads advance toward my objectives/razors on foot pot shotting as they went doing nothing. (thank you librarian) I lose a 10 man squad to the archon/grotesques. THe archon killed my priest and doubled in strength(REALLY...HE CAN DO THAT???) kill a ravager, make the wytch squad run from shooting, kill some of all the advancing squads after nuking the last advancing boat. I assault his warrior with a 5 man squad which died because he was running away and couldn't rally. I attack the archon/grotesques with my other 10 man squad to hold him from reenforcing the advancing wave. I lose but hold for another round of combat. He kills of my 10 man goes through cover to go after my objective. Misses all his other shooting. another 5 man squad with the libby pulls the trueborn squad out of the building away from my objective and slaughters him. He's left with 2 guys. I'm at full strength. This is the last squad that could potentially contest my base and now they are gonna die. MY good razor moves tohold the objective anyways. I pop 1 ravager and immobilize the other so he will only be able to use 1 lance instead of 3 at my stormraven thats just warring it out with him. My last termy with priest advance to contest his objective. ARchon/grotesques officially can not do anything for the rest of the game because they would have to walk way to far. tried to shoot my termies and fail and the last 2 trueborn die and I consolidate onto my objective. he shoots down my last SR . I can't do much. Nothing really to shoot at anymore. Game ends 1-0 Blood Angels win.
Murcielago
Thats a very saddening Dark Eldar list really...I (as a Dark General myself) say congrats to you for your victory. And yes, the archon can double his strength if he kills a monstrous creature or independent character, its an item called a soultrap. He's allowed to double his strength everytime he kills one of those in combat. Well, congrats on your win...As a Blood Angel, I'm happy for you. As a Dark Eldar, I wish that you have a tougher game next time ;)

bulley
Even at 1500 I am thinking about running double SR - and running them almost like a vendetta in a IG list, I think they could be brutal vs a lot of lists, not just DE - shame RAS cant get the 35 points off as at 165 they'd be a bargin lol. skawolf
I played against the new dark eldar two nights ago, he was running a wytch army with 6 lance raiders full of wytches and two tripple lance ravagers..... My storm raven was a thorn in his side untill he blew it up in the 5th turn (he really only immobilised it, but I had turbo boosted to try and contest an objective). I found the storm raven to be incredibly effective against his build
BLACK BLΠFLY
Stormravens will be good versus de since it can match their speed. BA have always been fast (except for the PDF) and speed kills. I think if a Stormraven can last through five turns it should have done its job by then. 0b :D
skawolf
Mine survived untill the 5th, did it's job outstandingly. The funny (or ironic part) is that when it was destroyed I actually (accidently) destroyed my model. I just fixed it for a game tomorrow.

Stormravens arn't gunships like Vendettas. Vendettas are far cheaper and have better weapons suited to staying back and shooting. Stormravens have somewhat limited capabilities are long range. Yeah hense the word ALMOST in it. Its obvious that they'd initially be used for their primary job, then once the models are deployed - gun ship fun with their really quite good weaponary. But they will be targeted more than a land raider, so maybe not. I thought that'd be pretty obvious though ...

But you failed to specifie in any way of your intentions for the Stormraven , except "running them almost like a vendetta in a IG list".
