Kasrkin Stormtroopers

I know that the Kasrkin are technically Cadian Stormtroopers and can be proxied for Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. However, is it tournament legal, or do I have to ask my oppenent if they can count as IS?

They're legal as far as I've seen. I would, of course, paint them up in Inquisition colors.

For some time the old Storm Trooper models were unavailable from Games Workshop and only the Kaskrin were up for purchase, its only recently that GW brought back the classic models. In any case Stormtroopers are Stormtroopers, why on earth would you not be able to use Stormtroopers as... Stormtroopers? They're armed with Carapace Armor (check), they carry Hellguns (check), then they're Storm Troopers. You could convert plastic Cadian Shock Troops to be Stormtroopers and it would be game legal as long as it was apparent what they are, meaning bulkier armor and guns but otherwise as long as it is WYSIWYG then its fine.

 

And yea, the Kaskrin are far and above better than the classic Storm Troopers, there's really no comparison. I'd love to see plastic Kaskrin models.

I've used both (I own 2 squads of the old Storm Troopers and 2 squads of Kasrkin) and no one has ever blinked or said anything. In fact I even have a Kasrkin commander poking his head out of my Inquisitor's Land Raider :) It's a Forgeworld bit that has gotten compliments on it's use.

Kaskrin are fine to use. I have used a squad at the last three tournaments that I have attended without issues. After all Kaskrin are just stormtroopers with a different name.

Indeed, only a mad man would say they couldn't be used as Stormtroopers! They look great but I also have a soft spot for the old "SAS gas mask" Stormie models I'm still hoping for plastic Stormies (which might well be the old style from the recent GW Stormie outings)...

I used Steel Legion and Death Corps of Kreig models for my inquisition storm troops love the long coats and gas masks

I was just to ask that question. Are the Death Korp Grenadiers allowed as stormtroopers since they are WYSIWYG except for the Hellguns and would tournaments allow them?

Who says what a Hellgun looks like? Does it look the same as any lasguns in the army? Do you have any lasguns? Honestly the Death Korps lasguns and look is different enough that I see no problem with playing them as Inquisitorial Storm Troopers. Heck I think that's actually the best idea I've heard all month... wish I'd thought of that sooner. They got the gas masks, trench coats and everything...

My two Kasrkin squads are painted up in colors resembling the Officer's uniforms from Killzone 2's Helghast.

hellguns are just more powerful laser guns, who says they have to look any different at all, the differences could be the electroncs on the inside.

Way back when (it might be the Warhammer 40K Wargear book, or an older Imperial Guard Codex) I believe it was stated the difference was the ammo pack... but I could be wrong on that :cuss

The current Hot-Shot Lasgun uses a Hot-Shot las cartridge which uses significantly more energy and has fewer shots. It's also more fragile.

Oooops! Sorry. Of course, the holy empire is streamlined and all designs have been approved by the holy emperor himself before production. Also there are no customisation and modifications done to any designs, as this would be an abominable act of heresy ;)

Yes, of course. The regular sacrifice of millions of innocent psychically active individuals to feed an über lich can in no way be regarded as evil, nor the aggressive xenophobic attitude towards the alien races, or any 'radical' ideas of alternate society structures.
